Alexander Zverev is heavily favored to advance to the US Open semi-finals after dominant straight-set wins and an exceptional record vs. lower-ranked opponents. Botic Van De Zandschulp, coming off consecutive exhausting five-setters and a poor record against top-5 players, is likely at a disadvantage. The article concludes that Zverev should win comfortably in straight sets, bolstered by impressive tournament and quarter-final statistics. Fans can watch the match live via streaming platforms with applicable restrictions.

Alexander Zverev vs Botic Van De Zandschulp US Open Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Botic Van De Zandschulp is coming off back-to-back five-setters and will likely have nothing left in the tank for the challenge of second seed Alexander Zverev, who has sunk his teeth into this US Open with consecutive straight set victories. The German is backed to win this quarter-final in straight sets, covernig a -6.5 line in the process.

I just can't see Van De Zandschulp being competitive here.

The Dutchman has come out on top in successive five-set marathons, the last of which saw him save a match point and recover from a two-set deficit to beat Arthur Gea in five hours and 13 minutes - the fourth longest match in US Open history.

Then throw in Van De Zandschulp's record against top five opponents, which stands at 2-12 - with 11 of those defeats coming in straight sets.

So the combined factors of fatigue and poor matchup history suggests Botic will be sent packing swiftly by Zverev here.

Zverev started the tournament in shaky fashion, but he's steadied for comfortable straight sets wins over Alejandro Tabilo and Luciano Darderi, while he has a ridiculous record against players outside the top 20 at slams, winning 44 of his last 46 such matches.

Add in an undefeated run in quarter-finals this year and Zverev is backed to ease into the semi-finals in New York for the third time.
  • Zverev has a 44-2 record in his last 46 matches vs players ranked 20+ at slams
  • Zverev has a 9-0 record in quarter-finals this season, winning six in straight sets
  • Zverev has a 12-6 record in Grand Slam quarter-finals (6-0 vs 20+ ranked players)
  • Zverev has won his last two US Open matches in straight sets
  • Van De Zandschulp has a 2-12 record vs top five players
  • Van De Zandschulp has lost 11 of those 12 matches in straight sets

Zverev vs Van De Zandschulp Head To Head

This will be the first career meeting between the pair.

Alexander Zverev Form Analysis

  • 2026 ATP Record: 50-13
  • US Open Record: 32-10
  • Current Ranking: No. 2
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 2 (2022)

Nobody has won more matches on tour than Zverev's 50 this year and the German finds himself in a strong position to claim a second Grand Slam title of the season following his breakthrough triumph at Roland Garros.

There's no doubt Zverev benefited from avoiding both Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner at the French Open, and he could once again have a favourable path in New York if Alcaraz is eliminated before the final.

After reaching the Wimbledon final, Zverev made a disappointing start to the North American hardcourt swing, losing his opening match in Canada to Tallon Griekspoor before falling to Tommy Paul in the Round of 16 in Cincinnati.

Zverev was then forced to dig deep in his opening two matches at the US Open, spending more than nine hours on court to survive five-set battles against Lorenzo Sonego (6-4, 3-6, 6-7(7), 7-5, 6-4) and Quentin Halys (6-4, 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-7(3), 6-3).

The German would have been relieved to enjoy a much more comfortable third-round outing, cruising past Alejandro Tabilo 6-2, 7-6(2), 6-2 and he backed it up with a similar victory against Luciano Darderi, surviving a late push from the Italian to prevail 6-2 6-2 7-6(3).

Botic Van De Zandschulp Form Analysis

  • 2026 ATP Record: 25-18
  • US Open Record: 12-5
  • Current Ranking: No. 70
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 22 (2022)

It has been a consistent season for Van de Zandschulp, who has arguably played better tennis than his current ranking of World No. 70 would suggest.

The Dutchman has won at least two matches at six tournaments this year, highlighted by a semi-final appearance in Bucharest and quarter-final runs in both Winston-Salem and Rotterdam. He also reached the third round of the Australian Open and Rome, along with the Round of 16 in Montreal, where he claimed impressive victories over Daniil Medvedev and Hubert Hurkacz.

Van de Zandschulp has also produced some of his best tennis at the US Open over the years, recording victories over the likes of Carlos Alcaraz and Casper Ruud. He enjoyed his deepest run in New York on debut in 2021, when he advanced all the way to the quarter-finals and now he's replicated that run five years later.

The 30-year-old made a strong start to this year's campaign, cruising into the second round with a 6-3, 6-1, 7-6 victory over Jan Choinski before stunning sixth seed Alex de Minaur in straight sets, 6-4 7-5 6-2.

Van De Zandschulp then came out on top in a pair of marathons, firstly outlasting Zizou Bergs 3-6 7-6(3) 4-6 7-6(6) 6-3 before saving a match point and coming from two sets down to subdue lucky loser Arthur Gea 3-6 6-7(0) 7-6(7) 7-6(3) 6-4.
