After a challenging first half of the season, Gauff is making up for lost time, coming into this clash having won nine matches on the bounce following on from her Cincinnati title a few weeks ago.

Moreover, it's the first time in her career that Gauff has won nine matches in a row in straight sets. It must be a nice change of pace for the American, who found herself in frequent three-set battles across the opening six months of the year.

Gauff completely dismantled countrywoman Iva Jovic in the R16, dropping just five games and at one stage going on a run of winning 25 of 30 points. Now, the 2023 US Open champion gets a favourable matchup in her 12th Grand Slam quarter-final.

Andreeva broke through for her maiden major title at Roland Garros, but she's not really hit that sort of form lately - indeed, since departing Paris, she hasn't beaten a top 20 player.

So with Gauff winning all five previous meetings and having the added advantage of the crowd support at her home slam, the American just has everything going for her here. Take Gauff for the win and a smaller stake on a 10th straight sets victory in succession.

Coco Gauff Form Analysis

2026 WTA Record: 44-13
US Open Record: 24-7
Current Ranking: No. 4
Career-High Ranking: No. 2 (2024)

It was a difficult start to the season for Gauff, but a run to the Wimbledon semi-finals proved to be the catalyst for a return to her best form.

Gauff now heads into this US Open quarter-final showdown with an outstanding 19-2 record across her last 21 matches. The American followed up her Wimbledon run with another semi-final appearance in Toronto before capturing her first title of 2026 in Cincinnati.

The 22-year-old was particularly impressive in Cincinnati, winning her final 12 sets of the tournament before completing the week with a dominant 6-2, 6-4 victory over Jessica Pegula in the final.

Gauff will now be looking to carry that momentum deeper into the US Open, where she lifted the trophy in 2023.

The World No. 4 made a solid start to this year's campaign, defeating Zeynep Sonmez 6-3, 6-4 in the opening round before producing an impressive performance to overcome Paula Badosa 6-3, 7-6(5).

Gauff's level dipped in her third-round victory over Cristina Bucsa, particularly on serve, where she landed fewer than 50 per cent of her first serves and committed six double faults. Despite being below her best, the American still secured a 6-3, 6-4 victory, reeling off the final eight points of the match to seal her place in the fourth round.

It was a much improved performance from Gauff in the R16 - especially considering she'd been eliminated at this stage at her last two US Open appearances. Gauff was always in control, conquering teenage compatriot Iva Jovic 6-1 6-4.

That victory also continued an impressive trend for Gauff, who has now won 70 of her last 74 Grand Slam matches after taking the opening set.

Mirra Andreeva Form Analysis

2026 WTA Record: 44-13
US Open Record: 8-3
Current Ranking: No. 5
Career-High Ranking: No. 5 (July 2026)

No matter how you frame it, it's already been a successful year for Andreeva.

The 19-year-old broke through to land her maiden Grand Slam title at Roland Garros, which propelled her to a career-high ranking of No. 5 in the world.

Clay was certainly a fruitful swing for Andreeva - she also picked up the silverware in Linz and was runner-up in Madrid.

However, Andreeva has also struggled at times throughout 2026.

For instance, she's only beaten one top 10 player all year (Iga Swiatek in Stuttgart). Andreeva also hasn't defeated a top 20 player since Roland Garros, losing her second match at Wimbledon and Canada and going down in the R16 in Cincinnati.

Andreeva has given herself another crack at a top 10 player and Grand Slam title at the US Open, advancing to the quarter-finals for the loss of just one set.

The Russian eased past Janice Tjen and Eva Lys by 6-2 6-2 and 6-0 6-2 scores respectively before overcoming the tricky Nikola Bartunkova 6-2 7-6(5). Andreeva then dropped her first set of the tournament against Anastasia Potapova before regrouping to register a 5-7 6-4 6-3 victory to make the last eight in New York for the first time.
