Muswellbrook Best Bet - Race 2 No. 1 Vltava
A strong first-up record at this venue gives Vltava plenty of appeal as he returns from a spell on Tuesday.
The gelding was narrowly beaten over this track and trip at $91 when resuming last preparation before going on to win a Newcastle maiden and finish runner-up in Class 1 company at Wyong.
That maiden success came on Good ground, although the four-year-old has also performed well in defeat on rain-affected surfaces.
His previous campaign ended with a midfield finish over 1600m at Scone in May when caught wide without cover, and the drop in distance should suit fresh.
The absence of a recent trial is no major concern and, from barrier six, Vltava looks capable of providing Gabrielle Johnston with a winner.

Muswellbrook Next Best Bet - Race 4 No. 6 Backhander
Backhander broke through for the second win of her career at Gunnedah last month and has continued to race well since.
The daughter of Graff scored by just under half-a-length over 1400m on wet ground at Benchmark 58 level before backing that up with a solid fourth at Mudgee just over two weeks later.
Annabel and Rob Archibald's mare is effective on both Good and Soft surfaces, so underfoot conditions should not pose any concerns.
Two previous unplaced runs at Muswellbrook are a slight query, although an inside barrier gives Heavelon Van Der Hoven every opportunity to secure a favourable position.
After racing just behind the speed at Gunnedah, the rise in distance looks suitable and Backhander can add another win to her campaign.

Muswellbrook Value Bet - Race 5 No. 4 Waveton
A dominant maiden victory at Tamworth in April showed the ability Waveton possesses when able to control a race from the front.
The mare made all over 1000m on Good ground and scored by nearly three lengths before fading after racing prominently in a stronger Class 1 at Kembla Grange next start.
That Kembla form has since been boosted by the winner scoring in metropolitan company, while connections elected to spell Waveton following the run.
She has also demonstrated an ability to handle wet ground after finishing runner-up at Hawkesbury on debut, giving her versatility across varying conditions.
Sara Ryan's four-year-old improved in the second of two barrier trials ahead of this return and looks capable of running well fresh at a value price.

Muswellbrook Roughie - Race 6 No. 11 Lobbyist
There was enough merit in Lobbyist's first-up fifth at Wyong last month to suggest she can improve with that run behind her.
The mare was beaten just over five-and-a-half lengths over 1100m after racing around fifth for much of the contest under Reece Jones, who retains the ride here.
Although unable to trouble the leading chances, it was a sound return on her first appearance since finishing fourth at Quirindi at the end of April.
The daughter of North Pacific had prepared for that resumption with a Warwick Farm trial victory and has previously shown she can perform on Good ground.
Barrier seven gives Lobbyist a reasonable starting point and, while several rivals are less exposed, she looks capable of running above market expectations.
