Saturday's Brisbane metropolitan racing moves across the road to Eagle Farm on October 24, with a ten-race program transferred from Doomben following heavy overnight rainfall that left the original venue unsuitable for racing.

If Esperanza handles the testing conditions expected at Eagle Farm, her rivals could be racing for second, with the filly bouncing back from her Toowoomba Guineas appearance to record a dominant victory at this venue a fortnight ago.

The favourite is not entirely proven on Heavy ground, having struggled in her only previous attempt at Listed level when deep into her first campaign, although she did finish runner-up on a Soft 7 surface at the Gold Coast earlier in the year.

At more attractive each-way odds, Unloading could be the forgotten runner after disappointing punters twice this preparation, with the Brett Dodson-trained gelding now having blinkers applied for the first time following a recommendation from his jockey after the first-up defeat.

A month between his first and second runs suggests there could be further improvement to come third-up, while his only career victory came over 1000m at Eagle Farm in March on Soft ground, and his strongest lead-up work has generally been on rain-affected surfaces.

The son of Spirit Of Boom is yet to encounter Heavy going on race day, but the combination of a potentially suitable surface, an important gear change and improved fitness makes Unloading an each-way chance in the opening leg of the quaddie.

There was enough merit in Moonhaven's August 12 resumption at Eagle Farm, when the six-year-old encountered some difficulties before finishing sixth, although his subsequent eighth on August 29 was well below expectations and prompted a short break.

The son of Shalaa has since completed two encouraging spring trials, suggesting he may be capable of sharp improvement, particularly with the forecast testing conditions expected to suit his established racing profile.

His two previous appearances over the Eagle Farm 1000m on rain-affected ground produced victories in February and March, while his earlier Melbourne success came on a Heavy 8 surface at Flemington in July 2024 over the same distance.

All four of Moonhaven's victories over 1000m underline his effectiveness at the specialist sprint trip, and with a career record of success on both Soft and Heavy surfaces, Saturday's conditions could provide the ideal opportunity to recapture his best form.

Jace McMurray takes the ride after partnering Moonhaven to his latest victory at Eagle Farm in March, and with a lighter weight than in his two recent race-day appearances, the gelding looks capable of producing a much more competitive performance at generous odds.

Eagle Farm Next Best Bet - Race 9 No. 10 Dominant Darcy

Tony Gollan has elected to back up Dominant Darcy just seven days after her latest appearance, with the decision particularly interesting given the forecast wet conditions and the mare's excellent record on rain-affected surfaces.

Although yet to race on Heavy ground, two of her four career victories have come on Soft tracks, including an impressive Class 3 success at the Gold Coast on March 14 when she relished a Soft 7 surface.

The daughter of Zousain has been remarkably consistent throughout her short career, recording four wins and three placings from nine starts, with her only two finishes outside the top three both resulting in fourth-place efforts.

Saturday's drop to 1000m is significant, but a testing sprint under the forecast conditions should provide a suitable challenge for a mare who has already demonstrated her ability to perform on rain-affected ground.

Emily Lang reunites with Dominant Darcy after partnering her to the first three victories of her career, and while her first race-day appearance at Eagle Farm presents a slight query, Gollan's decision to run her on the quick back-up deserves respect in a Class 6 contest that looks within her capabilities.

Eagle Farm Best Bet - Race 10 No. 14 All Kinds Of Folk

Some make hay while the sun shines, but All Kinds Of Folk does her best work when the rain falls, with the Todd Pollard-trained mare particularly effective in testing conditions and Saturday's seven-day back-up offering another opportunity to capitalise on her wet-track prowess.

The daughter of D'Argento produced a sound return when fifth at Eagle Farm on October 3 before dropping in grade and recording an impressive victory over Twisted Queen at Doomben last Saturday, despite the runner-up carrying 4.5kg less.

Her wet-track credentials are particularly compelling, with all four career victories coming on rain-affected surfaces and a perfect record from two Heavy-track appearances, including an impressive BM78 victory over 1800m at Randwick during her winter campaign.

Although rising to Open company and staying at 1600m, Saturday's testing conditions should make the mile a genuine stamina test, while the mare is the only multiple Heavy-track winner in the field and now drops to the 52kg minimum after carrying 58kg last week.

That six-kilogram weight reduction is a major advantage, and with her excellent record on wet ground, encouraging recent form and a favourable race setup, All Kinds Of Folk looks ideally placed to complete consecutive victories and record the fifth win of her career.
