Moe Tips September 8

Moe Denture Clinic Maiden Plate Tips (Race 1)

Moe Next Best Bet - Race 1 No. 3 Blue Parrot

Two solid efforts in defeat have Blue Parrot building towards a maiden breakthrough, including a seventh at Pakenham on debut.

The gelding was beaten just under three-and-a-half lengths over 1100m that day before dropping back to 1000m at Bairnsdale and finishing fifth.

The winner cleared out from the field on that occasion, while the seventh-placegetter has since won, giving the form some substance.

Both race starts have come on wet ground, so the forecast Heavy conditions should hold no fears, while Thomas Stockdale takes the ride from an inside barrier.

Blue Parrot also arrives off a runner-up finish in a Traralgon trial and, despite returning from a let-up, looks capable of breaking through.

Butchers On George Maiden Plate Tips (Race 3)

Moe Roughie - Race 3 No. 2 Belfast Boy

Belfast Boy has made two starts to date and both have come on rain-affected ground.

Ridden patiently on each occasion, he caught the eye when finishing fifth over 1717m at Sale last time after making ground through the straight.

That effort suggested the rise in distance should suit, while a couple of runners finishing behind him have since performed creditably.

His debut at Seymour also came with excuses after beginning awkwardly and being hampered in a 1400m maiden at big odds.

A wide barrier should be manageable given his usual racing pattern and, with blinkers applied for the first time, Belfast Boy can improve again at a price.

Moe Value Bet - Race 5 No. 3 Great Prosperity

Consistency has been a feature of Great Prosperity's preparation, with the gelding finishing in the top four in three of his four starts.

His only miss came when tackling Benchmark 62 company over 1746m at Sale, before he bounced back with a third at this level at Wangaratta.

Great Prosperity was beaten only half-a-length over 1590m there, and that race has since produced wins from the fifth and eighth placegetters.

Winner Auto Max has also saluted again and reopposes here, although Great Prosperity meets him on improved terms this time.

Brad Rawiller retains the ride and, with the son of Fiorente proven across varying track conditions, he represents value in this Benchmark 56.

Moe Best Bet - Race 7 No. 6 I Said Do

I Said Do closed his previous preparation with a Bairnsdale maiden win before returning to the same venue for his first-up run this campaign.

He finished runner-up over 1200m from a wide barrier, with the winner of that race performing well in all three subsequent starts.

The five-year-old then stepped into Benchmark 62 company at Seymour and produced a sound midfield effort over the same trip.

Dropping back to Benchmark 56 level is a positive, while his recent form on Soft ground suggests the Heavy conditions should not pose any major concerns.

Jason Maskiell knows him well and, with two runs now under his belt, I Said Do looks well placed to record his second career win.
