Ascot Roughie Tip

Ascot Roughie - Race 10 No. 6 Premium Girl

She had a messy first half of 2024 with a run of disqualifications but bounced back with two wins to open her 2025 campaign. Those efforts showed her liking for this distance range after failing to stay 1800m last prep.

Premium Girl has started single-figure odds in 13 of her 14 runs, so the current double-figure price appeals. She’s in her right distance zone again and looks ready to hold that form.

A soft run from the draw would see her in the finish, and she’s shown she can handle pressure late.

For a mare ticking enough boxes on this platform, she’s a genuine value chance.

Doomben Roughie Tip

Doomben Roughie - Race 6 No. 8 Indy Rose Warrior

She was consistent throughout her last campaign and picked up two wins, including a third-up success. Indy Rose Warrior now arrives on that same platform this prep.

After a solid 1400m return, she made late inroads with the second-fastest final 200m of the race. That run suggested she’s looking for more ground.

She stays in the same grade here, which keeps her competitive against similar opposition.

Getting to 2000m on Saturday looks the right move and gives her each-way claims.

Moonee Valley Roughie Tip

Moonee Valley Roughie - Race 8 No. 9 Vestas

Off two strong jump-outs, Vestas resumed with a huge third in the Northwood Plume Stakes, running the fastest last 400m of the Caulfield Guineas Day card.

She arguably should’ve won that race with a clearer run and more intent late. That performance came in stronger company than she meets here.

She’s Bulletproof won that event and brings proven Group 1 form through Jimmysstar and Rey Magnerio.

With that fitness edge and a better setup, Vestas looks an each-way chance again.

Morphettville Roughie Tip

Morphettville Roughie - Race 6 No. 8 Zain Prince

He was competitive over summer and autumn, picking up two wins, including one fourth-up. Zain Prince again hits this race on that same pattern.

His latest effort over shorter was sound after covering ground when dropping in trip. The step up now looks ideal.

He’s drawn a much kinder gate this time, which should allow him to settle closer to the speed.

Up in distance and holding fitness, he’s a live each-way player.

Randwick Roughie Tip

Randwick Roughie - Race 2 No. 10 Craft

Plenty of recent Highway runners tie in here, and Craft looks one who can improve second-up. His Goulburn return over 1400m was sound in a race dominated by the quinella.

That run suggested the 1600m will suit much better, and he can use gate one to advantage.

He should land closer in the run and give a sight with even luck.

At a big price, he’s one who can surprise over the longer trip.
