Ascot stages a ten-race program on Saturday, October 25, headlined by the Listed Belgravia Stakes, one of WA’s key early-season three-year-old features.

With depth across the meeting and several progressive types resuming or stepping through the grades, it shapes as another strong spring fixture for Perth racing followers.

Ascot Tips October 25

Guinness Handicap Tips (Race 2)

Ascot Best Bet - Race 2 No. 2 First Encounter

Could be a future Perth Cup horse for Bob Peters, but he’s sharp enough to make an impact over shorter trips at this stage. This long-striding son of Dundeel is a younger half-brother to Perfect Jewel and Star Exhibit, who between them won eight Group races.

First Encounter returned on October 11 with an excellent run in a 78+, producing the race-fastest closing sectionals to finish strongly. The rise in distance and drop in grade both work in his favour second-up.

He does rise 6kg on that effort, which is the small query, but he’s strong and athletic enough to cope with the impost. The setup suits perfectly, and he looks ready to continue progressing through the grades.

Everything points to him being the horse to beat in what looks a winnable assignment.

Tabtouch – Westspeed Series Heat 1 Tips (Race 3)

Ascot Favourite - Race 3 No. 4 Kraken Time

He hasn’t yet delivered on his early promise, but there’s still time for this lightly raced five-year-old. He was a clear eye-catcher last start when badly held up before charging late to get within half a length of Surfside Session.

That rival appears again here, but Kraken Time meets him 1kg better at the weights and looks suited by the extra trip. The wider draw in barrier seven could prove an advantage if he can build momentum early.

He arrives here fourth-up and at full fitness, with conditions to suit. Even luck in running and he can go one better this time.

Kraken Time looks ready to capitalise on recent consistency and break through.

Bisley Workwear Handicap Tips (Race 6)

Ascot Next Best Bet - Race 6 No. 5 Kay Tee Why

This lightly raced sprinter is building a strong profile, with four wins and three placings from seven starts. He’s chasing a hat-trick after back-to-back wins and returns to the track and trip where he remains unbeaten.

Two weeks ago, he defeated three of the same rivals he meets again here, all of whom are again prominent in early markets, and arguably should have won by further after briefly being held up. His consistency and short-course speed make him very hard to knock.

He’s three-from-three at the Ascot 1000m, and that record speaks for itself. If they’re able to make ground, he’s perfectly placed to strike again.

Kay Tee Why continues to improve each campaign and can maintain the winning streak.

Peters Investments Handicap Tips (Race 10)

Ascot Value Bet - Race 10 No. 6 Premium Girl

She had a messy first half of 2024 with a series of disqualifications but quickly turned things around to open her 2025 season with consecutive wins over 1300m and 1400m.

Those performances confirmed her liking for this distance range, and keeping her around this trip looks the key after not staying 1800m before a spell. She’s again in that comfort zone here.

Premium Girl has started single-figure odds in 13 of her 14 runs, so the current double-figure price looks generous for a mare ticking enough boxes on this platform.

A proven fresh performer, she’s well placed to round out the program at good value.
