Phillip Stokes’ mare is a dual course winner who continues to race well at this level and looks ready to peak second-up.

A consistent performer in Adelaide, she resumed from a spell with a narrow defeat on the Parks track, where she was run down late after leading throughout in a 1250m Benchmark 80.

That followed a mixed Victorian campaign last prep, but her earlier form included a strong Benchmark 78 placing at Moonee Valley, finishing just a length from the winner.

She’s since trialled well over 800m at the Parks circuit and should strip fitter for the run.

With Taylor Johnstone again claiming 2kg and drawing well, Zebella looks well placed to return to winning form.

Morphettville Value Bet - Race 5 No. 4 Kikorangi

The son of Cable Bay has shown sharp improvement since joining the Heather Lehmann stable, breaking through stylishly first-up this prep.

He debuted for the new yard with consecutive placings at Port Lincoln and Murray Bridge before returning with a dominant Balaklava win earlier this month.

That performance saw him lead throughout and score by more than five lengths over 1200m, suggesting he’s come back a stronger horse.

A recent trial win confirmed he’s returned in great order, and a better draw here should allow him to adopt similar front-running tactics.

This is a rise in grade, but Kikorangi looks progressive enough to handle the test and appeals at a good price.

This New Zealand-bred gelding continues to race consistently and drops significantly in grade after a solid campaign in stronger company.

A winner over 1950m on the Parks track in August, he’s since recorded multiple placings on good ground at the same venue over longer trips.

Last week he wasn’t disgraced finishing midfield in a Benchmark 72 over 2006m and now finds a more suitable race against this opposition.

Drawn well in barrier five, he maps to settle close to the speed and should get every opportunity under Sairyn Fawke, who has ridden him to victory before.

At a double-figure quote, Eight On The Dot represents genuine knockout value.

Michael Hickmott’s promising four-year-old showed plenty of upside in his debut campaign, finishing in the top two in all five starts.

That preparation included three wins, highlighted by a dominant 1600m maiden victory at Strathalbyn and two strong staying performances late in the prep, including one at this track.

He resumed at Murray Bridge over 1400m earlier this month, where he worked to the line well for eighth in a big field despite the trip being short of his best.

With that run under his belt and the rise in distance a major plus, he looks ready to bounce back to winning form second-up.
