Head Of State (barrier nine) and Profondo (barrier 10) are set resume their rivalry, with this pair having cleared out from their rivals in the Gloaming Stakes on September 25, which is the key lead-up event for the Spring Champion Stakes.

David Payne has trained two of the last four winners of this race, including Montefilia in 2020 and in this year's edition, he has dual representation via French Emperor (barrier 11) and Raging Bull (barrier four).

The well bred & aptly named Benaud (Reliable Man x Baggy Green) will jump from gate seven under Hugh Bowman, while the half-brother to Tofane also comes out of the Gloaming where he made ground to finish third.

Fillies have had good success in the Spring Champion Stakes over recent times (Yankee Rose, Maid Of Heaven and Montefilia) and three have accepted for this year, with Never Been Kissed (barrier eight), Chill (barrier three) and Bulloo (barrier five) all in the final field.

A total of 13 runners have accepted for the 2021 Spring Champion Stakes.
