Eagle Farm Tips July 25

Sky Racing BM70 Handicap Tips (Race 3)

Eagle Farm Next Best Bet - Race 3 No. 5 Larado

Looking to bounce back from a first-up defeat is Larado, and the late market drift ahead of that July 11 resumption indicated that he might need the run.

Without setting the world on fire, it was still a pass mark in third coming from off the speed, with that race completely dominated by Let'sfacethemusic, a fitter rival dropping in grade from Listed company, who was hunted up to lead and backed as if unbeatable.

This lightly raced son of Toronado can improve with that run under the belt, while his second-up victory on January 31 was recorded over this track-and-trip in a field that included Savagery Vibe, who was well held in third before becoming a Listed winner in May and Group-placed at her last two starts, including the Group 1 Tatts Tiara.

The market had a habit of finding him over those first five starts, while there were excuses for the February 14 defeat when he failed to relish the soft ground.

A drying surface is in his favour for this BM70, which doesn't look an overly strong affair.

Eagle Farm Best Bet - Race 7 No. 2 Montpellier

This Archibald-trained import has always looked like the galloper who would benefit from some headgear, and he gets that second-up on Saturday with the application of winkers.

He resumed fairly when heavily backed at Rosehill after contesting just one winter trial, and not only will the son of Wootton Bassett strip fitter, he also finds himself very well placed heading north for a modest three and four-year-old handicap.

Montpellier is particularly well in at the weights with 55kg after Jace McMurray's claim, with the apprentice having bagged four winners at Doomben last Saturday.

Without winning, he showed ability in three runs over his first Australian campaign, with the first two taken out by the very talented stablemate Formal Display, while his April 1 third at Rosehill also included Emirates, who has since saluted twice in Saturday metropolitan company in Sydney this winter.

A firmer track is another tick, with his two wins in England both recorded on Good ground and over this distance.

Cricks Highway Open Handicap Tips (Race 8)

Eagle Farm Value Bets - Race 8 No. 5 Lisztomania & No. 11 Sir Artie

The penultimate at Eagle Farm currently has five runners at single-figure quotes, with Lisztomania and Sir Artie the two that appeal most.

Lisztomania saluted for us first-up at Eagle Farm at a big price on the June 27 program before receiving no luck second-up in the Listed Ramornie Handicap at Grafton, where he was back and badly held up from the 400m until late in the straight.

That was a clear forgive run, and while he always needs luck in running, the seven-year-old has the brilliance to put this field away if the breaks come.

Sir Artie is the current favourite and is in really good touch in Sydney, backing up a good return with the race's fastest closing sectionals in a BM78 on July 4 despite being completely unsuited by the race shape.

Not only does he draw kinder here, he also plummets to 52.5kg, which is 7kg less than he carried last start, while his most recent win came with 3kg more in a stronger Sydney event earlier this season.

Ladbrokes Place Extra To 10th BM85 Tips (Race 9)

Eagle Farm Roughie - Race 9 No. 8 Pocket Full

He hasn't saluted this season, which included a long campaign from spring until autumn, although Pocket Full has still been competitive in most of his performances, including two placings over this track, trip and grade.

Those runner-up finishes were recorded in February and March, both with bigger imposts than he carries on Saturday.

After a half-length defeat when resuming at Rockhampton on June 19, the son of Rich Enuff didn't quite run out a strong seven furlongs at the Sunshine Coast second-up in this grade, but he still stuck on fairly well.

He then had no favours at Doomben last time out, where he was ridden quieter from a wide gate, covered ground in a muddling affair and still finished off honestly under the circumstances when beaten less than three lengths.

While still in a decent drought, his last victory came at this distance and grade when carrying 1.5kg more, so with a softer run on the speed from barrier five, he can give an open finale a decent shake at a big price.
