Caulfield Tips July 25

Caulfield Next Best Bet - Race 1 No. 1 Takeko
For a rising six-year-old, Takeko is still very lightly raced, with the Grahame Begg-trained mare having completed just 10 starts.
Her only poor performance came at start two before a spell, with four wins, three seconds and two fourths recorded from her other nine appearances, which includes a first-up fourth at Caulfield on June 27.
Being a big mare who is now really starting to fill out with age, she may just be the type who needs a run to hit her straps, with Takeko tiring late after setting the speed fresh, while she's since won a Caulfield Heath trial under a good hold.
She was also resuming off a lengthy spell and improved sharply second-up to salute at Moonee Valley earlier in the season, progressing from a one-length first-up defeat to record a two-length triumph before a break.
Takeko stays against her own sex and drops in grade on Saturday, where she'll make her own luck on the speed under Ryan Houston, who takes 2kg off with his claim.
Quayclean Handicap Tips (Race 4)
Caulfield Roughie - Race 4 No. 2 Prince Tycoon
Admittedly, he's not exactly a roughie at a single-figure quote, but each-way odds are still available for Prince Tycoon, with blinkers applied to the Busuttin-trained three-year-old for Saturday's fourth-up tilt.
He's arriving off an honest runner-up finish in the Listed Creswick Stakes at Flemington, which was taken out by Wise In-Law, a very good straight-track horse.
Prince Tycoon never gave up after initially leading, coming back again and not shirking the challenge in a half-length defeat, while the drop back in distance is a tick on Saturday.
He's unbeaten from two tries over 1100m, which includes a debut success at Caulfield, while his second win came over this journey via the May 13 resumption at Bendigo despite laying out in the straight.
He's still doing a few things wrong, but those manners are ironing out a little with racing, appearing more tractable in his last outing, and Prince Tycoon can be supported on an each-way basis in a competitive contest against his own age group.
Big Screen Company Bletchingly Stakes Tips (Race 7)
Caulfield Feature Bet - Race 7 No. 1 Cosmic Crusader
It'll be a really interesting late market watch with Cosmic Crusader, so don't be at all shocked if there's a drift.
Punters could potentially take on the son of Maurice, who resumes off just one jump-out, albeit a good one, and kicks off his Victorian career under Andrea Leek, with the 2025 Group 1 Northerly Stakes winner last seen finishing second in the Gold Rush after backing up from his 1800m feature win to place in that 1400m feature a week later.
All of his Bletchingly Stakes rivals set up better, at least on paper, with most of them being sprinters and his main threats all holding a fitness edge.
However, Cosmic Crusader should be the best horse to come out of this race going forward, and class alone could take him a long way, with perhaps the Group 1 Memsie Stakes in late August a campaign target, as 1400m+ is preferable.
He's generally come to hand early, though, recording three first-up wins, the latest a dominant all-the-way success over seven furlongs in September.

Caulfield Value Bets - Race 8 No. 9 Crimson Vine & No. 15 Aeolian
At each-way prices in a competitive penultimate are Crimson Vine and Aeolian.
The South Australian visitor Crimson Vine is much rougher in the market and could be sneaking under the guard when crossing the border for the Sarah Rutten stable, having been completely unsuited first-up on June 27 before showing better signs again behind the favourites second-up a fortnight ago.
Crimson Vine now gets up to a trip that produced a Murray Bridge win last campaign before a stakes placing over this journey, while competitive performances followed over longer distances, including a Group 3 third over 2600m before a fourth in the Adelaide Cup.
Aeolian was only there to get back and run on from a wide barrier over 1600m in her Australian debut at Sandown on July 1, a distance short of her best, but after hitting a flat spot, her work through the line was impressive.
Not only does this set up better over a more suitable trip, but it's also a huge drop in the weights with 8kg less, while Jabez Johnstone sticks and he's striking at better than 26% for the Ciaron Maher stable this season.
MRC Membership Made Of Moments Handicap Tips (Race 9)
Caulfield Best Bet - Race 9 No. 2 Cruiserweight
After bolting in on debut in New Zealand on December 31, Cruiserweight joined the Hayes stable and opened his Australian account with a 1200m triumph over the Swan Hill Carnival.
He was then five weeks between runs and stepped into metro company against his own age on July 1, handling both the rise in grade and distance with ease to record a one-length victory, despite not having the best of luck.
Cruiserweight found himself back in a muddling affair and was held up from the 500m to the 300m before negotiating a passage to the outside in the straight and proving too brilliant for Celtics, with that pair clearing right out from the remainder of the field.
He does go up in the weights, but he's a talented three-year-old with plenty of upside, while Melbourne's leading rider Craig Williams remains in the saddle.
His biggest threat is probably Mahershala, another youngster with plenty of raw ability who saluted for us second-up at Sandown, although there's some query over where he'll head, given the gelding has also accepted for Randwick on Saturday.
