ATP Estoril Futures Tips & Predictions - Rublev favourite; former champion Carreno Busta offers value

The Estoril Open returns as an ATP 250 event in Portugal, featuring top clay specialists in scenic Cascais. Andrey Rublev is the standout favourite, especially after a recent title, with Pablo Carreno Busta and Jaime Faria marked as strong outsider picks. Rublev's fresh form and elite clay-court credentials make him a likely champion, but Carreno Busta's impressive local history and Faria's breakout potential offer value for bettors. The event’s slow, demanding conditions and competitive field promise compelling action.

ATP Estoril Futures Tips & Predictions

After a one-year break from the main tour, the Estoril Open returns as an ATP 250 tournament as part of the swift summer clay swing.

The Estoril Open is an outdoor clay-court tournament staged at the Clube de Ténis do Estoril in Cascais, Portugal and has been part of the ATP Tour 250 calendar since 2015 - apart from last year, when it was demoted briefly to an ATP 175 Challenger event.

Now staged after Wimbledon, it features slower conditions, longer rallies and a premium on patience, movement and topspin, although Portugal’s coastal climate can introduce wind and changing temperatures that affect ball speed and control. The event has developed a strong reputation for its scenic setting, intimate atmosphere and competitive fields, regularly attracting established clay-court specialists - and this year is no different, with the likes of Andrey Rublev and Luciano Darderi leading the field.

Rublev is the deserved favourite, but we also like some outsiders for a potential run to the title this week in Estoril. Read on below for our best outright winner tips and reasoning behind each selection.

ATP Estoril - Outright Winner Best Bets

Andrey Rublev

Rublev is the favourite, but I don't mind the $3.90 on offer.

The World No. 14 is the best player in the draw, absolutely no doubt about it - and he's coming off a title winning week in Bastad.

Fatigue shouldn't be an issue - Rublev only played four matches and he gets a bye into the second round here as one of the top four seeds.

Rublev has won 17 ATP titles and made a further 12 finals - no other player in the field apart from the retiring Stan Wawrinka comes close.

The 28-year-old is seeded to meet Alejandro Tabilo in the semi-finals and Darderi in the final - the two players he beat on his way to the silverware in Bastad. No reason he can't double down here.

Pablo Carreno Busta

Carreno Busta could face Rublev in the quarter-finals and I want to have a small stake on the veteran Spaniard for the upset if they do meet and a potential run all the way to the title. Carreno Busta has taken a set off Rublev in all three previous meetings, so he knows he can challenge the top seed and these are favourable conditions for him.

The 35-year-old has recovered from injury problems and regained some great form over the last couple of months, winning 19 of his last 26 matches.

A fourth round run at Roland Garros was impressive - it took rising star Rafa Jodar to stop him in five sets, with his younger compatriot also edging him in a deciding set at Wimbledon.

Carreno Busta has won a Challenger title and made another final in that little run, while a three-set defeat in Umag last week to Ugo Carabelli wasn't too bad.

Most importantly for this bet is Carreno Busta's record on Estoril - he's won 13 of his 17 previous matches at this tournament, making the final in 2016 before taking the title in 2017. He's also made the semi-finals on two other occasions, so he clearly loves the conditions on the south coast of Portugal - at $21, he's worth a punt.

Jaime Faria

Nuno Borges is probably the more realistic home title contender, but odds of $8.50 aren't quite doing it for me, so I prefer to look at his younger compatriot Faria, who is more than double the price and in career-best form.

Faria has a positive 7-6 record at tour-level in 2026, highlighted by a run to the French Open third round from qualifying, where he beat Jan-Lennard Struff and Denis Shapovalov before going down in five to Frances Tiafoe.

The 22-year-old made the semi-finals of a Challenger at home in Oeiras before Roland Garros and it took clay beast Casper Ruud to edge him out in three sets in Gstaad last week.

Faria has a decent opening round draw against the erratic Botic Van De Zandschulp and would face the winner of qualifier Gonzalo Bueno or local wildcard Tiago Pereira in the second round - he'd be a big favourite in all of those matches.

A quarter-final against Darderi would be the challenge, but at odds of $19, I think Faria is worth keeping an eye on for a breakout ATP 250 run in front of his home fans.
