With the longer trips of the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups in mind, the campaign so far from Soulcombe (barrier 6) has been terrific, a Chris Waller-trained import who backed up a surprise return win over the 1700m at Caulfield with two strong subsequent efforts.

Following a fourth-place finish second-up behind Alligator Blood in the Group 1 Underwood Stakes, the son of Frankel ran third behind the impressive Gold Trip in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes and that 2000m outing should top him off nicely for the 12 furlongs.

Chris Waller has also accepted with last-start Hill Stakes winner Montefilia (barrier 9), a mare that's finished fourth in each of the last two runnings of the Caulfield Cup, while Francesco Guardi (barrier 15) has the key engagement of James McDonald.

Without A Fight (barrier 7) impressed over a short Brisbane pre before a slashing return run in the Underwood Stakes, with trainers Anthony & Sam Freedman choosing to send the seven-year-old straight to the Caulfield Cup after that September 23 outing.

Ciaron Maher & David Eustace have a strong hand in the 2023 Caulfield Cup, with three runners along the first emergency and Gold Trip (barrier 11) heads the list for the powerful training partnership.

Last year's Melbourne Cup winner will have his fair share of admirers off a brilliant last-start victory in the Turnbull Stakes.

Maher & Eustace also prepare Duke De Sessa (barrier 14), Right You Are (barrier 13) and United Nations (barrier 17), with the latter being the sole emergency.

European visitor West Wind Blows (barrier 2) was sound behind Gold Trip in the Turnbull Stakes on Australian debut and the dual Group 3 winner looks set to relish the extra 400m here.

Breakup (barrier 5) was a single-figure chance in the early Caulfield Cup markets and being a Japanese Group 2 winner who also finished fourth in this year's Group 1 Tenno Sho, he'll have his fair share of admirers, especially with Damian Lane aboard.

Two-time Melbourne Cup-winning trainer Joseph O'Brien has dual representation, with the Irish handler accepting with Okita Soushi (barrier 12) and Valiant King (barrier 1).

Okita Soushi saluted at Royal Ascot before finishing third in the Group 3 Irish St Leger, while Valiant King brings decent European form, having placed behind both Desert Hero and Vauban this year.

Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott have Hoo Ya Mal (barrier 8) and Goldman (barrier 18) in the final field, while Annabel Neasham saddles up Bois D'argent (barrier 3) and Spirit Ridge (barrier 10).
