Midway Handicap Tips (Race 2)
Randwick Value Bet - Race 2 No. 14 Whoa Nellie
This is a sterner task for Whoa Nellie coming out of a Class 1, but she is a lightly raced filly who continues to improve with racing.
She was green on debut last spring before rounding out her first prep with a second, and in her Illawarra Grange resumption on May 5, she made light work of a maiden field.
Whoa Nellie then handled both the rising grade and the more testing conditions at Hawkesbury when bolting in on May 21.
The three-year-old profile is always likeable in Midway company, with the daughter of Deep Field now down on the 54kg minimum.
Up to 1500m looks suitable for a filly who has shown tactical versatility, and she attacks more seasoned rivals in good touch.
Foundation Female Member Handicap Tips (Race 5)
Randwick Next Best Bet - Race 5 No. 11 Sunsprite
As the fourth emergency in the Queensland Oaks, it is unlikely that Sunsprite will gain a start in that fillies' feature.
With this BM72 consolation well within reach, staying in Sydney, with the rise to 2000m ideal, she is going off a third-up placing here on May 23.
Despite being unsuited when back in a slowly run affair, she sustained a wide run for third, and there should be improvement to come given there was around five weeks between runs there.
Although she hasn't shown a great deal of tactical speed this campaign, hopefully there is a little more intent to kick up and at least hold a neutral position from barrier three.
Sunsprite stays right down in the weights once again under Braith Nock, who has ridden 18 winners for the Archibald stable this season.
Cornerstone Risk Group Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Randwick Best Bet - Race 6 No. 6 Ice Kool
Connections did have a few options last Saturday at Rosehill but opted against resuming on testing ground there with Ice Kool.
They are likely to be rewarded here with a firmer surface this time around, with the three-year-old having impressed in two lead-up trials.
He showed above-average ability in his first campaign, bolting in on debut before taking out a BM72 over 1100m here.
The gelding then contested a hot race on the Gold Coast when respected in the market and did not have a lot of favours in that Queensland appearance.
He is the least exposed runner in the field and while the ceiling is known for a lot of his rivals, Ice Kool looks a sprinter going places and they have found a very suitable assignment to begin his second prep.
Bob Charley AO Stakes Tips (Race 8)
Randwick Feature Bet - Race 8 No. 6 Infancy
Heading a competitive market is General Salute, who has easily the best exposed form from the spring, with his last four Sydney placings all coming behind Group 1 winners.
The main query is him resuming off a few little issues, with 1100m being on the sharp side, but on ability he could just win this by default.
Longer odds are available for Infancy, who was checked late at Scone, while a fast-run 1300m left her vulnerable irrespective.
Dropping back in trip suits here, and we have been with her twice at big prices, first when she landed last year's Sapphire Stakes at 20/1.
The other was in her Sapphire defence when she flashed home for second at 50/1, with the underrated mare boasting a good Randwick record and a drying surface bringing her further into contention.
Cactus Imaging Handicap Tips (Race 9)
Randwick Roughie - Race 9 No. 13 Geemes
She has not done a whole lot wrong since joining the Beer & Carpenter stable, rounding out the spring with a winning hat-trick and quickly working through the grades in the process.
The mare went from a country Class 1, with the last win coming at Midway level.
Geemes built off a good Midway return on February 21 to almost pinch the Listed Canberra Cup at a big price.
There were some excuses following that in the Albury Cup, where she was very well backed for that 2000m feature.
She moved well in a tick-over trial and despite this being a deep off-season affair, that recent form reads well and there is no reason why she cannot give this a shake at a big price with weight off most of the classier opposition.
