Eagle Farm Tips June 6

Race 1 - 11:43AM Mittys BM90 Handicap Tips (1810m)

17. Cavalry Man is building towards a win and gained a start as the third emergency in the field with three scratchings confirmed. He was third over this track, trip and grade two starts back on Heavy ground, which was his first placing on a rain-affected surface.

He gets a sharp drop in the weights with 6kg less than he carried at Doomben on May 23, where he arguably should have won when held up at key stages of the straight. The drying surface is in his favour and he looks one of the leading contenders in the opener.

14. Diamond Epic could be the one peaking now, with both runs this campaign better than they read after getting back in unsuitable circumstances. Her summer culminated with back-to-back victories over this distance, including a win at Eagle Farm.

4. Rotagilla found a testing 2000m too much at Randwick last start, but the prior form was solid with a second-up win followed by a competitive fourth in The Coast. The slight drop back in trip suits.

11. Kaluakoi has won two of three starts this preparation, including over a mile at Doomben last time out when leading throughout. He's likely to push forward from a wide draw.

Selections: 17-14-4-11.

Race 2 - 12:18PM Place Ascot BM85 Handicap Tips (1200m)

9. Now Is The Hour is entering D-Day fourth-up after being beaten at short quotes in all three runs this campaign. He seemingly needed the run first-up over this track and trip before being reeled in late at the Gold Coast.

A colder ride last time at Doomben saw him loom before Arabian Rose powered home late carrying 6kg less. A two-time winner over this track and trip, he held form deep into his last campaign and is one of the main on-speed influences.

10. Verdoux was well beaten at Scone last start, but that Listed effort is worth forgiving after he got back and was held up throughout. He has bolted in at a subsequent Sunshine Coast trial and had a consistent record in Victoria.

5. I Am Artie could be the blowout after contesting some strong events over summer. The latest trial was good and his 1200m record is terrific.

6. Town Crier will push forward and arrives off a first-up victory at Ipswich. Was competitive in similar company throughout his previous prep.

Selections: 9-10-5-6.

Race 3 - 12:53PM Moreton Hire Lightning Handicap Tips (1000m)

6. Monte Supreme is one of many chances in a very competitive sprint and this looks her most suitable assignment of the campaign. The Bjorn Baker-trained mare has been mostly competitive throughout her New South Wales preparation.

She was solid at Scone last time and should get the right race shape here. Expect her to settle back and look to charge home late if the speed is genuine.

2. Flying Destiny arrives chasing a fifth consecutive victory and continues to do everything right. The rise in weight is no knock over 1000m and he draws well again for Jamie Melham.

1. Givemethebeatboys finds 1000m the key these days after saluting over this track and trip first-up. He tired in The Archer when respected in the market, but this is a much easier assignment.

8. Pre Eminence is looking to respond after two disappointing efforts to open the campaign. He recorded back-to-back wins over this track and trip last preparation.

Selections: 6-2-1-8.

Race 4 - 1:28PM The Show A Heart Tips (1500m)

3. West Coast was accepted for the Spirit Of Boom Classic but connections instead opted for a softer assignment on the Gold Coast Polytrack. He took advantage of that opportunity on May 16, coming from off the speed for a nice victory.

This is obviously much harder, but the younger half-brother of La Bella Boom appears to have plenty of talent. While the rise to 1500m is sharp, he shapes as though these distances will suit in time.

8. Mystical showed talent as an early two-year-old with placings in both the Max Lees Classic and Magic Millions Wyong 2YO Classic. The key now may be getting her over more ground, with 1500m and a bigger circuit both positives.

6. Glenorchy did enough on debut over 1200m at Randwick to suggest there is improvement to come. A low draw and rise in distance both appear suitable.

9. Shintono brings Listed Bill Carter Stakes form into the race, although she did have her chance there. At the price, she looks short enough.

Selections: 3-8-6-9.

Race 5 - 2:03PM XXXX Queensland Day Stakes Tips (1200m)

11. Sequista couldn't breakthrough in four runs as a juvenile but was competitive in strong company throughout last season. After a narrow defeat as an odds-on favourite first-up in November, she returned to winning form with an impressive Gosford maiden victory.

She comes through the Listed Denise's Joy Stakes at Scone on May 16, where she was well backed but had little luck after being dragged back and forced wide. Despite that, she produced the fastest last 400m and 200m of the race, and a kinder draw gives her every chance to improve second-up.

8. Sylph was one of the better performed maidens in the country with multiple stakes placings before finally breaking through at the Gold Coast. Has confidence now, along with the talent and exposed form to be taking this out.

15. Champagne Lane could be worth including at odds after failing to handle Heavy ground at Eagle Farm last time. The draw is kind and she had been tested in good company following her October 19 victory.

10. Mercy Me also comes through the Denise's Joy Stakes and was unlucky not to win. She worked across before being grabbed late by Miss Freelove, who never went around a horse.

Selections: 11-8-15-10.

Race 6 - 2:38PM Magic Millions National Classic Tips (1600m)

1. Churchill's Choice landed the cash for us at big odds in the Hawkesbury Cup two starts back, defeating War Eternal and Middle Earth, who both won Brisbane stakes races at their next starts. She then contested a messy Scone Cup where several runners had excuses.

She's one that arguably should have won that race and keeping her around the mile now appears the key. This is a suitable assignment against her own sex under weight-for-age conditions, while her only previous track and trip run produced a second in last year's Queensland Guineas.

5. Surfin' Bird was a touch disappointing as favourite in the Dark Jewel Classic but returned well at Hawkesbury prior to that. She bounced back from a second-up flop last winter to win three of her next four starts, including a high-rating Caulfield performance.

2. Pinito has had a strange campaign after beginning well before her form tapered off. A freshen-up helped her bounce back at Doomben on May 23 and this is another race within reach.

4. Blindedbythelight has drawn another wide gate but brings strong fresh form through Idle Flyer. She was luckless in Adelaide before being set a task at Doomben on May 23.

Selections: 1-5-2-4.

Race 7 - 3:13PM Sky Racing Spear Chief Handicap Tips (1500m)

12. King Zephyr is testing punters' patience after losing his last four starts despite market support. However, he has still managed three runner-up finishes in that period and there were excuses in the Caulfield return before a strong Flemington effort.

He produced the second-fastest last 200m of the meeting there before recording the fastest last 400m at Sandown on May 23. A drying surface, big track and rise to 1500m all look positives, with Craig Williams looking to launch late on the Victorian visitor.

4. Sun God rises sharply in weight from the Luskin Star Stakes but the step to 1500m should suit. The Chris Waller-trained galloper is chasing a hat-trick and should be thereabouts again.

7. Port Lockroy could be the sharp improver third-up with blinkers applied. The Group 1 winner is classy on his day and was gelded ahead of this campaign.

11. Rising Pacific did enough when resuming over 1350m and is suited up in trip. A tick-over trial since that return effort adds confidence.

Selections: 12-4-7-11.

Race 8 - 3:52PM Seven Queensland Oaks Tips (2200m)

1. Panova was well held in the Group 1 Surround Stakes first-up before showing improvement in the Phar Lap Stakes. A plain Vinery Stud Stakes effort followed, but she bounced back strongly in the Australasian Oaks at her latest appearance.

It may simply be a case of keeping her on top of the ground, with her two poorest runs this preparation coming on Soft 6 surfaces. She looks the most brilliant filly in the race and a drying track combined with a good barrier gives her every chance to see out the 2200m.

11. Parvenu brought up her second win from four starts with a strong Caulfield Heath performance before an encouraging run in The Roses. Horses often improve second time clockwise and her pedigree suggests the trip will suit.

16. Tartanya was unlucky in The Roses after covering ground throughout and that was also her first clockwise attempt. She profiles as an out-and-out stayer and is the best roughie.

8. Chispa continues to progress and is unlikely to be troubled by the extra furlong after chasing strongly in The Roses. The wide draw is the main concern.

Selections: 1-11-16-8.

Race 9 - 4:28PM Ladbrokes Moreton Cup Tips (1200m)

8. Boomtown Boss has to be forgiven for the BRC Sprint effort, where he finished 15th of 16 after having momentum halted at a key stage. That run followed a solid placing in The Archer at Rockhampton.

His Eagle Farm record is a major positive, with his last three wins recorded at this circuit and two of those over this distance. He was also competitive in decent company after his November 8 victory here and looks capable of bouncing back.

5. Metalart is going better than his form suggests after being badly held up at the Gold Coast first-up. He was then caught back in a slowly run race and now returns to a distance that suits, with three wins from four tries over this track and trip.

10. King Of Sparta is hard to gauge second-up after a long spell but the Scone return was a pass mark. He drops 6kg and is capable of beating any of these when right.

11. Uncommon James returned well and had excuses for the second-up flop when cardiac arrhythmia was detected. He was then competitive in the Doomben 10,000.

Selections: 8-5-10-11.
