Flemington’s race meeting on Saturday, June 6, promises exciting action with nine competitive events spanning three-year-olds, emerging stayers, and seasoned runners. Key bets highlighted are Spione (Race 6), Biologics (Race 4), Zahrann (Race 7), and value pick Kaleo (Race 3). The card features potential form lines leading into winter, while lightly raced horses like Biologics and Certify are tipped to progress. Savvy punters should look for value among these selections, with Spione and Zahrann especially well-placed off strong form. Expect close finishes and some upsets in open fields.

Flemington takes centre stage on Saturday, June 6, with a competitive nine-race program featuring a mix of promising three-year-olds, emerging stayers and established metropolitan performers.

Several races shape as important form references heading into the winter period, while a number of lightly raced runners look capable of taking the next step against quality opposition on the spacious Flemington circuit.

Flemington Tips June 6

Play On, For Neale Tips (Race 3)

Flemington Value Bet - Race 3 No. 4 Kaleo

An open early market sees fair quotes available for both Flying Gun and Kaleo.

Flying Gun rounded out his last campaign with a winning hat-trick, including a comfortable track-and-trip win here in January, and his brave return when second to a smart Concord Connie does look the obvious form.

However, with a mile run under the belt, Kaleo could be peaking here, having not progressed as an early three-year-old and subsequently being gelded, while he has produced strong finishing seconds in both runs this campaign.

His latest was at Sandown when catching the eye late in a leader-dominated race, and he is right down in the weights again with just 53.5kg after the Jabez Johnstone claim.

The Tasmanian hoop is in good form after posting a winning hat-trick at Sandown on Wednesday and also saluting via his only ride at Geelong on Thursday.

Community Race Day Sprint Tips (Race 4)

Flemington Next Best Bet - Race 4 No. 8 Biologics

This Grahame Begg-trained filly is very well bred, being by I Am Invincible and out of Fontein Ruby, with the dam a three-time stakes winner who has already produced a Group 2 winner in Parure.

Biologics opened her account with a very stylish debut victory at Pakenham in May last year before going to the paddock.

In two stakes attempts in September, she never came up and was spelled as a result.

The three-year-old was sent for a BM62 kill first-up on May 14 at Werribee and, importantly, got a confidence booster there.

Galloping room appears to be key for this filly, so the wide draw up the Flemington straight could be an ideal setup, while one of the more talented young riders in the country, Lachlan Neindorf, takes the reins.

Vale Steve Richards Tips (Race 6)

Flemington Best Bet - Race 6 No. 9 Spione

Team Hawkes have opted to send Spione south, a lightly raced five-year-old who looked set for a big prep going off the Hawkesbury return win on April 8 when coming from off the speed with a powerful performance.

Not much has gone right when up in grade in his two subsequent New South Wales attempts.

That includes the May 2 second-up effort when working home comfortably in inferior ground at Hawkesbury and yet still managing a third.

A somewhat bizarre ride followed on May 23 when getting to the outside fence, but it was another solid effort and coming back to 1400m is no knock.

This is also a touch weaker than what he has been facing up north, and with good race fitness and a gate that suits his racing pattern, Spione does look very well placed here.

Flemington Community Plate Tips (Race 7)

Flemington Favourite - Race 7 No. 2 Zahrann

This Ciaron Maher-trained import could easily start favourite in this BM100 come the jump.

There was a big boom on Zahrann heading into his Australian debut over a mile here on May 16.

However, he did look like a 2000m+ horse in his jump-out work and echoed that in his recent fresh outing at a mile, where the entire got back and hit a flat spot with 60kg.

He really got warm late there, recording the fastest last 200m of the entire meeting, and he is now not only suited up in distance but also carries 3kg less after the Jabez Johnstone claim.

There are some terrific form lines from Europe, including a Group 3 win over a similar journey, while a runner-up finish was recorded prior to that over 12 furlongs at Royal Ascot.

Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour Trophy Tips (Race 8)

Flemington Roughie - Race 8 No. 6 Certify

It's very interesting placement with Queensland trainer Paul Shailer sending Certify south.

It's a yard that has a knack with these middle-distance and staying types, and this youngster performed well in the Group 3 Rough Habit Plate at a big price on May 16.

Unfortunately, he could not get into the Group 1 Queensland Derby field, remaining the first emergency for last Saturday's three-year-old feature in Brisbane.

He had saluted in his prior two starts and has improved with every run as the distances have increased.

While it's an open three-year-old event for the penultimate, he is up against no world-beaters in his Melbourne debut, and connections are not here for a holiday with the son of Justify, who should relish the bigger surrounds, although a low draw is a query.
