The Memsie Stakes is the first Melbourne Group 1 of the new season, a 1400m standard WFA feature run at Caulfield and it carries a total purse of $750,000.
Pride Of Jenni (barrier 7) has defeated Mr Brightside via their last three clashes and latest of those was by more than eight lengths via her all-the-way victory in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes back in the autumn.
The Ciaron Maher-trained mare has completed three jump-outs ahead of her return (won the last two) and despite a narrow defeat over this track/trip when resuming last prep, the seven-year-old still hasn't registered a fresh win from seven first-up attempts.
Mr Brightside (barrier 4) is looking for back-to-back Memsie Stakes wins and he took out the 2023 edition after resuming with victory in the PB Lawrence Stakes.
He has a terrific record at Caulfield, with the gelding unbeaten from five attempts over 1400m on this circuit and that includes three first-up triumphs.
Queensland visitor Antino (barrier 6) was narrowly defeated as runner-up in last year's Toorak Handicap, which is his only try at Caulfield to date and while his last campaign in Brisbane fell away, the Tony Gollan-trained galloper opened that prep with a victory.
The son of Redwood has a terrific fresh record, with four wins from five first-up attempts.
Gentleman Roy (barrier 8) is a hard-fit and in-form contender who arrives off a winning hat-trick and he has been competitive at Group 1 level previously, which includes a second in the 2023 CF Orr Stakes and he lost that race on protest.
Pinstriped (barrier 3) was an eye-catcher first-up in the PB Lawrence Stakes when runner-up to Gentleman Roy, while Aegon (barrier 1) came from the rear in the same race to grab fourth.
Eight runners make up the final field for the 2024 Memsie Stakes.

First ran in 1899, the Memsie Stakes has seen several high-profile horses delivering wins before going onto greater success with, Makybe Diva, Humidor and Sunline all recording Memsie Stakes wins before going on to claim a bigger prize later in the spring.
Behemoth (2021), Snapdancer (2022) and Mr Brightside (2023) have won the last three editions of the Memsie Stakes.
