Aussies in Action at Wimbledon Today

There are only two Australians remaining in the singles draw with Alex de Minaur scheduled to play on Day 6 (Saturday), leaving Daria Kasatkina the sole Aussie in action on Friday.

  • Daria Kasatkina vs Naomi Osaka, Court 1, 10pm AEST

Daria Kasatkina vs Naomi Osaka Preview

Australia's Daria Kasatkina faces one of the toughest tests of the third round when she takes on four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka. Kasatkina battled through a gruelling three-set victory over Janice Tjen to reach this stage and says her confidence is growing with each match, but she has never beaten Osaka and acknowledges the Japanese star's powerful serve and attacking style are perfectly suited to grass. While Osaka has never progressed beyond the third round at Wimbledon, she cruised through her second-round match and looms as a formidable opponent in what shapes as one of the standout clashes of the day.

Alex de Minaur is the sole Aussie remaining in the Gentelmans singles, taking on the World No.66 America, Zachary Svajda

  • Alex de Minaur vs Zachary Svajda (USA)

Alex de Minaur vs Zachary Svajda Preview

Alex de Minaur has booked his place in the third round of Wimbledon without dropping a set and will be favoured to continue that run when he takes on American Zachary Svajda. The Australian No.1 has accounted for Roman Andres Burruchaga and Adrian Mannarino in straight sets, admitting he is focused on simply surviving the opening week before shifting his attention to a deep tournament run. Svajda arrives with confidence after fighting back from two sets to one down to defeat Kamil Majchrzak, continuing an impressive recent record at Grand Slams, but De Minaur's greater experience, consistency on grass and ability to raise his level in the big moments should make him difficult to stop as the pair meet for the first time.

  • Maya Joint lost to Alexandra Eala
  • James Duckworth lost to Flavio Cobolli
  • Kimberly Birrell lost to Sorana Cirstea
