With six winners and five placings from his last 20 rides before Friday's Tamworth program, jockey Jake Pracey-Holmes is in good touch.

He takes the reins aboard Acquisitive Art, a mare who has clearly had her issues given her career didn't begin until June 22, and she's now a rising seven-year-old.

The June 10 Scone trial was encouraging with Jake Pracey-Holmes aboard, and he retains the ride after she was green and clearly lacking experience on debut.

Despite that, she ran on well after being allowed to find her feet off the speed in an 800m dash on Heavy ground.

The rise to 1000m is in her favour, and with any natural improvement from that first start, Acquisitive Art has at least each-way claims in a maiden lacking a standout.

Tamworth Best Bet - Race 5 No. 7 Dunstall The Gun

The Cavanough stable and Nick Palmer are striking at better than 20% this season, while also producing a positive ROI of 44%.

Palmer was aboard for Dunstall The Gun's maiden breakthrough on February 15, when the gelding overcame trouble before heading for a short break.

Little has gone right in five subsequent starts, with the gelding proving a work in progress and poor starts plaguing him earlier in the year.

That's improved at his last two appearances, although a wide barrier forced him to be ridden cold on May 31 before another conservative ride on June 9 saw him forced to make ground while covering extra territory.

He's now right down in the weights, draws low and looks capable of returning to winning form.

Tamworth Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 1 Athena's Treasure

Nothing has gone right in two runs this campaign.

The first came at Scone as a well-backed favourite, where she settled a long way off the speed before making late ground without threatening.

A conservative ride from a wide draw in a Highway at Randwick last time left her never in contention, while she also found traffic in the straight.

This represents a sharp drop back to country BM58 grade, where she receives further relief with Anna Weatherley's 3kg claim.

Athena's Treasure showed plenty of promise last year, and with a kinder map and improved fitness, this weaker race provides an opportunity to show her best form.
