Wests Tigers by 1-12 is the best play at Jubilee Stadium, with the 39-59 total points range also making sense in a game that should be competitive without turning into a complete blowout.

St George Illawarra Dragons vs Wests Tigers NRL 2026 Round 18 FAQ’s

The Dragons slumped to their 14th loss of the season last weekend, but as usual they were in the fight until the end. That has been the pattern with St George Illawarra. They are not winning enough games, but they keep dragging opponents into awkward, late-game contests.

Three of the Dragons' last four games have finished inside a 1-12 margin, and the Tigers are not a side that regularly blows opponents off the park. Wests sit outside the top eight and need this game badly, but the loss of Jarome Luai takes some of the polish out of their attack.

The recent head-to-head also points toward another tight finish. Six of the last seven games between these clubs have been decided by 12 points or fewer, and that makes the Tigers 1-12 margin more appealing than simply taking them head-to-head.

Setu Tu is the tryscorer angle for the Dragons. Wests Tigers have struggled defensively for most of the year, and if the Dragons find points it is likely to come through early shifts to their outside backs.

Take Wests Tigers by 1-12, the 39-59 total points range, and Setu Tu in both the anytime and first tryscorer markets.

Three of St George Illawarra's last four games have finished by 1-12 points.
Six of the last seven Dragons v Tigers games have finished by 12 points or fewer.
Jarome Luai is out for Wests Tigers, with Jock Madden named at five-eighth.
Setu Tu is named on the wing and profiles as the Dragons' best outside-back tryscorer play.

Head to Head Stats

St George Illawarra have won three of the last five meetings, but the more important trend is margin. Recent clashes between these clubs have consistently stayed close, with six of the last seven decided by 12 points or fewer.

Dragons Atk Rank	Tigers Def Rank	Stat	Tigers Atk Rank	Dragons Def Rank
17	15	Points	11	17
14	10	Run Mts	8	17
17	15	Linebreaks	13	14
8	9	Compl %	5	11

St George Illawarra Dragons Form Analysis

The Dragons have lost four of their last five games, averaging 18.0 points scored and 27.2 conceded across that run. Their attack remains the biggest issue, with the club ranked 17th for points and 17th for linebreaks.

The positive is that they keep finding ways to stay alive in games. They were right there against Canberra last week, and with a 1-12 result landing in three of their last four, this profiles as another tight contest.

Wests Tigers Form Analysis

Wests Tigers have been inconsistent, but they enter this as the side with the more appealing attacking ceiling. They rank 11th in points and eighth in run metres, which is enough to worry a Dragons defence sitting 17th in points allowed and 17th in run metres conceded.

The issue is team disruption. Jarome Luai is out after delayed concussion symptoms, Jock Madden returns from concussion at five-eighth, and Taylan May's shoulder injury sees Heamasi Makasini promoted into the centres. Alex Twal returning at lock is a boost through the middle.
