Carlos Alcaraz vs Jiri Lehecka ATP Tokyo Tips, Prediction & Live Stream - Alcaraz to secure Japan Open title

Carlos Alcaraz is tipped to defend his Japan Open title despite some recent slow starts and concentration lapses in Tokyo. Jiri Lehecka, on a six-match win streak, has the firepower to keep the contest close, particularly in the first set. While Alcaraz leads their head-to-head 3-1 and is the deserved favorite, Lehecka’s form suggests he can cover a +4.5 games handicap and potentially take a set. The recommended bets are Over 9.5 games in the first set, Lehecka +4.5, and Alcaraz to win 2-1 in sets.

Carlos Alcaraz vs Jiri Lehecka ATP Tokyo Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Carlos Alcaraz is tipped to defend his Japan Open title, but the Spaniard has been suffering from slow starts all week in Tokyo, so Jiri Lehecka can keep this competitive and cover a +4.5 start in defeat when the pair clash in the final on Tuesday night.

It hasn't been easy, but Alcaraz remains unbeaten in Tokyo and he will be aiming for his 10th consecutive match win at the tournament and back-to-back titles in the Japanese capital here.

It's an important tournament for Alcaraz, who continues to work his way back from injury after missing almost five months with a wrist problem.

As such, it's not surprising that Alcaraz remains far from his best and is having concentration lapses this week.

One particular market I want to target is the first set total games, with the line set at 9.5. Alcaraz has gone to 7-5 or 7-6 in all four of his matches in Tokyo this tournament, so it's an obvious play here.

Lehecka has also been on fire in his last two matches, earning ATP match ratings of 9 or better and dropping only eight games in total. The Czech has also troubled Alcaraz in the past, beating the Spaniard in Doha and taking a set on the grass of Queens last year.

So Lehecka is also tipped to cover a +4.5 start and I wouldn't be surprised if he snatches a set. But Alcaraz is the deserved favourite and you expect him to find another level in a final. The top seed winning in three offers good value.
  • Alcaraz has won his last nine Tokyo matches
  • Alcaraz has seen Over 9.5 games in the first set 11 of his last 13 matches
  • The last two meetings have seen 10+ games in the first set
  • Alcaraz has a 27-9 record in tour-level finals, with six of those defeats vs Sinner & Djokovic
  • Lehecka has seen 10+ games in the first set in three of his last five matches
  • Lehecka is on a six-match winning streak
  • Lehecka has a 2-6 record in tour-level finals, with both wins coming vs players ranked 60+
  • Lehecka has a 12-26 record vs top 10 players
  • Lehecka has seen 10+ games in the first set in five of his last six matches vs top 10 players

Carlos Alcaraz Form Analysis

  • 2026 ATP Record: 34-4
  • ATP Tokyo Record: 9-0
  • Current Ranking: No. 3
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 1 (2022)

Alcaraz started the year with a bang, completing the Career Grand Slam by winning his maiden Australian Open and putting together a 15-match winning streak.

However, Alcaraz suffered a wrist injury at the start of the clay swing, causing him to miss Roland Garros and Wimbledon, with the Spaniard only returning at the US Open, where he went out in the quarter-finals to Ben Shelton.

After helping Team Europe win the Laver Cup, Alcaraz has shown glimpses of his best tennis in Tokyo, but is still far from his best.

The 23-year-old has faced challenges in all four of his matches, dropping the second set against Alex Michelsen (7-6(1) 4-6 6-1), saving multiple set points in the opener against Matteo Arnaldi (7-6(6) 6-1), recovering from 3-5 down in the first set against Denis Shapovalov (7-6(3) 2-1 RET) and sensationally overcoming losing 16 points in a row from 5-3 up in the first set against Jaume Munar in Monday's semi-final, coming back to prevail 5-7 6-3 6-1.

Jiri Lehecka Form Analysis

  • 2026 ATP Record: 37-17
  • ATP Tokyo Record: 4-0
  • Current Ranking: No. 19
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 12 (May 2026)

Another solid season for Lehecka, who remains in the top 20 after making his maiden Masters 1000 final in Miami, along with a quarter-final in Madrid and a fourth round finish at Wimbledon.

The Czech has also taken three top 10 scalps, beating Taylor Fritz in Miami, Lorenzo Musetti in Madrid and Ben Shelton in Davis Cup shortly before arriving in Tokyo.

Lehecka has improved with every match at the ATP 500 event, overcoming Zizou Bergs and Ugo Humbert in three sets across his opening two rounds before dominant 6-1 6-1 and 6-4 6-2 victories over Adolfo Daniel Vallejo and Valentin Vacherot.

The 24-year-old was on fire against Vacherot, dropping just four of 40 points on serve as he carved up last year's Shanghai Masters champion.
