2027 NRL Premiership Odds Analysis

Penrith and the Roosters share favouritism at $6.00, but they arrive there from very different finishes to 2026. The Panthers claimed the minor premiership before being knocked out by Newcastle in the preliminary final, while the Roosters went all the way and defeated the Knights 19-18 in the Grand Final.

The Dolphins are on the next line at $8.00 after their breakthrough finals campaign ended against the Roosters in the preliminary final. Melbourne are $9.00 despite missing the 2026 finals, while South Sydney round out the teams at $10.00 or shorter.

One of the more interesting early prices belongs to Newcastle at $11.00. The Knights entered the 2026 finals as $67.00 outsiders before eliminating South Sydney, the Warriors and Penrith on their remarkable run to the Grand Final. They eventually fell just one point short against the Roosters.

At the other end of the market, expansion side Perth Bears open at $101.00 ahead of their first NRL season.

How the 2026 Premiership Market Moved

The 2026 season showed just how dramatically NRL premiership odds can change.

Penrith entered the finals as $2.50 favourites after claiming the minor premiership and shortened as far as $1.85 before Newcastle ended their season in the preliminary final.

The Roosters had a very different journey. They were $9.00 entering the finals and drifted to $11.00 after losing their qualifying final to Penrith. From there they eliminated Cronulla 46-10 and the Dolphins 36-20 before edging Newcastle 19-18 in the Grand Final to claim the premiership.

Newcastle provided the biggest market swing. The Knights were available at $67.00 entering the finals but produced three consecutive elimination victories to reach the decider. Their run ultimately finished one point short, but it was a reminder of how quickly the premiership market can change once September arrives.

The opening 2027 market resets the competition, with Penrith and the defending champion Roosters sharing favouritism and a large group of contenders sitting within striking distance behind them.
