Penrith Panthers History
The Penrith Panthers were introduced to New South Wales Rugby League in 1967 and it was tough early going for the club with a near twenty year wait before making their first finals series.
They got to their peak courtesy of a strong playing list from the late 1980's build around the likes of Greg Alexander, Brad Fittler and Mark Geyer which saw the Panthers make their first grand final in 1990 where they were defeated by the Canberra Raiders in a 18-14 end result.
They only had to wait one year to avenge that loss when taking out the 1991 premiership over the Canberra Raiders with Royce Simmons the star of the show with two grand final tries which included a late one to break the 12-12 deadlock.
Craig Gower, Greg Alexander, Royce Simmons and Grahame Moran were the four original inductees to the Penrith Panthers Hall of Fame.
