State of Origin III has significantly reshaped NRL team selections for Round 18. Key stars are missing for Penrith, Brisbane, Dolphins, and more, causing multiple line-up shuffles and debut opportunities for youngsters. Eels bring Jonah Pezet back, South Sydney welcome Jack Wighton, while the Knights and Sea Eagles are forced into positional changes due to injuries and representative duties. NRL Team Lists Round 18: Origin III Forces Massive Changes as Pezet Returns and Broncos Reshuffle

Last updated: Tuesday June 30, 2026

State of Origin III has again had a major influence on team selections for Round 18, with several premiership contenders forced into significant changes. Penrith are without Nathan Cleary, Isaah Yeo and Liam Martin, Brisbane have lost several representative stars, while the Dolphins must cover for Isaiya Katoa after his fractured wrist.

Parramatta hand Jonah Pezet his first NRL appearance since Round 5, Newcastle reshuffle without Kalyn Ponga, and South Sydney receive a timely boost with Jack Wighton returning from injury.

Panthers vs Rabbitohs

Friday 8:00pm at CommBank Stadium

Panthers

Penrith have been hit hard by Origin duties with Nathan Cleary, Isaah Yeo and Liam Martin all unavailable, while Isaiah Papali'i also misses through concussion. Jack Cogger takes over at halfback and Ivan Cleary has promoted Liam Henry into the starting side. Kalani Leuluai-Going, Billy Phillips and Luron Patea all join the interchange after previously featuring during the Origin period earlier this season.

Rabbitohs

Jack Wighton returns after missing six matches with an arm injury, strengthening South Sydney's backline. Cameron Murray departs for Origin duty, meaning Lachlan Hubner starts at lock, while Alex Johnston's calf injury sees Dayne Jennings retain his place on the wing. Matthew Dufty has been added to the extended bench.

Eels vs Sea Eagles

Sunday 2:00pm at CommBank Stadium

Eels

Parramatta hand Jonah Pezet his first NRL appearance since Round 5 after the playmaker successfully returned from a hamstring injury through NSW Cup. Pezet replaces Mitchell Moses, who is unavailable due to State of Origin commitments, while Jason Ryles has otherwise kept faith with the side that went down to South Sydney last week.

Sea Eagles

The Sea Eagles have been forced into another halves reshuffle after Luke Brooks suffered a season-ending ACL injury against Melbourne. Youngster Joey Walsh gets his opportunity at five-eighth, while Clayton Faulalo (hamstring) and Reuben Garrick (concussion) both return to strengthen the backline. Corey Waddell replaces NSW representative Haumole Olakau'atu in the starting pack, Kobe Hetherington returns from concussion protocols, and NSW Cup hooker Zaidas Muagututia has been added to the extended bench as he eyes an NRL debut.

Newcastle again cover for State of Origin fullback Kalyn Ponga, with Fletcher Sharpe shifting to the No.1 jersey and Sandon Smith promoted to five-eighth. NSW Blues centre Bradman Best is also unavailable after earning an Origin recall, opening the door for Fletcher Hunt in the centres. Harrison Graham and Francis Manuleleua join the extended interchange, while NSW Cup prop Lachlan Crouch remains in the squad after his recent debut.

Dolphins

The Dolphins have been dealt another significant blow with star halfback Isaiya Katoa sidelined after suffering a fractured wrist. Bradley Schneider takes over in the No.7 jersey, while Trai Fuller again fills in at fullback with Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow on Origin duty. Felise Kaufusi returns to the starting side, Tom Gilbert is back after recovering from a throat injury, and Jake Averillo returns from hand surgery to replace Origin-bound Jack Bostock in the centres.
