• This one has upset written all over it - Auger-Aliassime is a measly 14-13 in slam R1 matches and 2-4 at Roland Garros
• Altmaier has a 5-5 record vs top 10 players on clay & has three top 10 scalps at Roland Garros, including one over Sinner and last year vs Fritz
• Altmaier has won two of his four previous meetings with Auger-Aliassime - the Canadian has won in straight sets just four times in 27 previous slam R1 matches, so at the very least Altmaier can cover a +5.5 line here

Learner Tien vs Cristian Garin Tips

• Tien has rapidly improved on clay, making the R16 in Rome before taking the title in Geneva last week
• Tien has won 18 of his last 22 matches vs players outside the top 100
• Garin's level has dipped massively from his peak years - he's lost his last three matches, with the last two coming vs players ranked outside the top 200
• Garin has managed just three tour-level wins in 2026

Ashlyn Krueger vs Antonia Ruzic Tips

• All about fading Ruzic on clay - she's lost seven of her last nine matches coming into this clash
• Ruzic has only managed one win on clay over a player ranked in the top 300 this year
• Krueger has dipped in the rankings, but she did well to qualify for the main draw with three good wins and has the momentum here
• Krueger has a 5-1 record in her last six slam R1 matches, while Ruzic has gone 0-2

Corentin Moutet vs Vit Kopriva Tips

• This match should be closer to even money in my opinion, so liking Kopriva with a +3.5 start
• Moutet isn't great on clay - he's registered a 3-6 record on the surface so far this year, only beating one player ranked higher than Kopriva
• Kopriva has improved considerably over the last 12 months, especially on clay - he made the semis in Rio, the quarter-finals in Munich and the R16 in Madrid
• Moutet has the tendency to lose his mind on court and can go long periods without winning games - could for a handicap bet

Jaime Faria vs Denis Shapovalov Tips

• Shapovalov's career has sort of just faded into nothing & I can't see him making any sort of impact here
• Shapovalov has suffered a R1 exit in four of his last five tournaments, including three consecutive straight set defeats on clay vs Molcan, Navone and Budkov Kjaer
• Faria has won six of his last seven matches on clay, including qualifying with a victory over Dimitrov and has gone 24-11 on the surface overall in 2026
• Faria is simply the superior player on this surface right now and should be able to keep his run going here

Oleksandra Oliynykova vs Elena Pridankina Tips

• Oliynykova has made a nice rise into the top 60 and she's done the bulk of her good work on clay, winning 40+ pro matches on the surface in each of the last three years
• Oliynykova has won five of her last seven matches on clay, including wins vs Eala, Putintseva, Marchinko and Tauson
• Pridankina only has two tour-level wins in her entire career and zero in 2026
• Oliynykova the clear favourite, but am a little worried about her retirement in Strasbourg last week - but it appears it was just precautionary
