Alexander Zverev aims for his fourth Grand Slam final as he takes on up-and-comer Jakub Mensik in the 2026 Roland Garros semi-finals. Zverev is the only top-10 seed left, bringing considerable experience to a clash against Mensik, who is riding an inspirational run but faces a tough challenge after several long matches. Despite Mensik’s impressive wins and potential, the article predicts Zverev will advance to the final, likely in straight sets, citing his form, experience, and Mensik’s fatigue. Viewers can watch the match live through major sports streaming platforms.

Alexander Zverev vs Jakub Mensik Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Alexander Zverev targets his fourth major final when he comes up against rising star Jakub Mensik in the Roland Garros semi-finals on Friday.

There's no two ways around it, Zverev will never get a better chance to land that elusive maiden Grand Slam title. The German is the only top 10 player left in the draw and the only player out of the four remaining semi-finalists to have experience at this stage of a major. In fact, this will be Zverev's 10th major semi-final, compared to zero for the other three. Interestingly, this will be just the second time that Zverev will face a player outside the top 10 in the semis of a slam - the other was Pablo Carreno Busta at the 2020 US Open, where he won in five sets before going down to Dominic Thiem in the final.

Meanwhile, Mensik has put together a highly impressive tournament - he was literally down and out after a five-set epic over Mariano Navone in the second round, needing a wheelchair to leave the court after suffering full body cramps. The 20-year-old dusted himself off and has conquered Alex de Minaur, Andrey Rublev and Joao Fonseca to surge into his first major semi-final.

Mensik is certainly commanding respect after flying under the radar when it comes to fellow youngsters on tour - he's done what the likes of Fonseca, Rafa Jodar and Learner Tien haven't and that's make a major semi-final, along with win a Masters 1000 title and earn wins over Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinnner.

However, I think his run comes to an end here - and it could be quite emphatic. There's always a chance Zverev is going to choke and buckle under the weight of expectation - but I think that was either going to happen already, or it will occur in the final. Zverev subdued Jodar in straight sets in the quarter-finals and his experience will count for something here. Mensik has a good record vs top five opponents, but he's never beaten one in a slam (or after so many long, physical matches). I think we've seen all the end of all the five-set epics this tournament - backing a one-sided victory for Zverev here.
  • Zverev is playing his 11th major semi-final, Mensik is competing in his first
  • Zverev has won 15 of his last 23 semi-finals vs players outside the top 10
  • Zverev has seen Under 38.5 games in his last 10 Roland Garros matches
  • Mensik has a 4-3 record vs top five players, but zero at the slams
  • Mensik has seen 1+ tiebreak in six of his last seven matches vs top five players
  • Eight of Zverev's last nine wins have come in straight sets

Zverev vs Mensik Head To Head

Zverev leads 1-0, prevailing in three in Madrid last month.

Alexander Zverev Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 33-9
  • French Open Record: 43-10
  • Current Ranking: No. 3
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 2 (2022)

Surely this is Zverev's time.

The German has been within touching distance of five big titles in 2026 - namely the Australian Open, Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo and Madrid.

On each occasion, it was either Jannik Sinner or Carlos Alcaraz that eliminated him. Both are absent, with only Mensik and one of Flavio Cobolli or Matteo Arnaldi left to stop him. Cobolli actually beat Zverev in the Munich semi-finals earlier this clay swing, so it's not set in stone - but you've got to like his chances.

Zverev has only dropped one set on his way to the Roland Garros semi-finals (vs Quentin Halys in the third round). The 29-year-old has swept aside Benjamin Bonzi, Tomas Machac, Jesper de Jong and Rafael Jodar in straights.

The 2024 French Open runner-up recovered from 2-5 down in the opening set against teenage star Jodar to reel off 16 of the next 21 games in a 7-6(3) 6-1 6-3 victory.

Jakub Mensik Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 23-9
  • French Open Record: 6-1
  • Current Ranking: No. 27
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 12 (March 2026)

Not many 20-year-olds can say they've already won a Masters 1000 title and conquered the likes of Djokovic and Sinner, all the while having a positive career record over top five opponents.

In fact, none at present can. And now, Mensik has added Grand Slam semi-finalist to his growing list of achievements.

The Czech has risen to every challenge so far in Paris. After edging out Mariano Navone 6-3 2-6 6-4 1-6 7-6(11) in the second round, Mensik recovered from a first set bagel to knock off Alex de Minaur 0-6 6-2 6-2 6-3.

Mensik then survived another gruelling five-setter against Andrey Rublev 6-3 7-6(6) 4-6 2-6 6-3 before ending the run of fellow young gun Joao Fonseca, emerging a 6-4 6-3 7-6(3) winner.
