Via Sistina opened her 2024/25 season with victory in the Winx Stakes and as a $3 market elect with Ladbrokes, the Chris Waller-trained galloper is favoured to defend her title.

She'll follow the same path that saw her peaking in the Cox Plate, where the daughter of Fastnet Rock broke the race record with a dominant eight-length triumph and she backed that up with a comfortable win in the Champions Stakes.
With a third-place finish followed by a winning hat-trick, Via Sistina held her form over the 2025 Sydney Autumn Carnival.
In February, Fangirl ($6) defeated Via Sistina first-up in the Apollo Stakes and she then only only narrowly defeated second-up when the stablemate turned the tables in the Verry Elleegant Stakes.
Her autumn culminated with a Group 1 victory in the Queen Of The Turf Stakes and along with having good fresh stats, it's worth noting that her last six wins have come at Randwick, which includes a first-up victory in the 2023 Winx Stakes.
Gringotts ($6) has firmed in the Winx Stakes markets, with the Ciaron Maher-trained galloper now sharing the second line of betting with Fangirl.
With 10 wins and eight placings from 21 starts, the six-year-old has been a very consistent campaigner and he proved his Group 1 WFA credentials in March when successful in the George Ryder Stakes.

Winx Stakes Winners

In 2018, this feature was renamed the Winx Stakes, in honour of the champion Australian racehorse who won this feature three times.
