Australian Oaks 2026 Betting Tips - Will Ohope Wins Atone?
The 2026 Australian Oaks at Royal Randwick highlights a prestigious race for three-year-old fillies. Leading the odds at $2.40, Ohope Wins is expected to perform well, particularly after her notable New Zealand Oaks victory. Her chances were positively assessed despite a fourth-place finish at the Vinery Stud Stakes. Other contenders like After Summer, praised for her recovery in previous races, and Classic Gem, riding under experienced jockey Damian Lane, are expected to add excitement to the field. The Oaks promises thrilling competition among the top contenders.

The Australian Oaks opens the Group 1 action on Day Two of The Championships at Royal Randwick, setting the tone for a high-quality afternoon of racing.
Run over 2400m, this historic staying feature for three-year-old fillies has been claimed by some of the sport’s most iconic names, including Flight, Wenona Girl, Light Fingers, Leilani, Surround and more recently Verry Elleegant.
Ohope Wins heads the market for the 2026 edition, currently the $2.40 favourite with EliteBet as she looks to add an Australian Oaks to her New Zealand Oaks success.
2026 Australian Oaks Tips
2026 Australian Oaks Best Bet - Ohope Wins
I am happy to forgive the stable debut for Chris Waller when finishing fourth-of-nine in the Vinery Stud Stakes, where she dropped back to 2000m and was also more than five weeks between runs since her New Zealand Oaks victory in February.
That March 28 performance was still a pass mark, with James McDonald remaining in the saddle.
The bigger expanses of Royal Randwick should suit her style, which is to get off the speed and build through her momentum.
That was something she was not quite able to achieve in the Vinery Stud Stakes.
With that recent clean-out under her belt, Ohope Win can atone in the Australian Oaks.
2026 Australian Oaks Next Best Bet - After Summer
A daughter of The Autumn Sun, whose progeny have excelled in previous Oaks and Derbies, After Summer almost caused an upset in the Vinery Stud Stakes at a huge price.
That came second-up after what was only an even 1600m return in the Kewney Stakes behind the dominant Sass Appeal.
The Dominic Sutton-trained filly was consistent throughout a long first campaign.
The highlight came via a Victorian Oaks trial victory in September, which she followed with two placings, including a third in the VRC Oaks before a spell.
She appears to be looking for 2400m based on that first Sydney run, and with any improvement, After Summer has to be right in contention here.
2026 Australian Oaks Value Bet - Classic Gem
Another runner from the Dominic Sutton stable is Classic Gem, who gets winkers applied after a brave effort without luck in last Saturday’s Adrian Knox Stakes.
The daughter of Maurice covered ground throughout and, while well held in the finish, the effort had merit under the circumstances.
Recent trial work suggested she returned stronger, and she backed that up with a good return behind Get A Good Feeling at Group 3 level on March 21 at Caulfield.
Damian Lane has ridden three of the past five winners of this race, and he stays aboard from the Adrian Knox Stakes.
Exposed form suggests there is not a great deal between her and stablemate After Summer, and she was also luckless when in the VRC Oaks after covering ground throughout that 2500m feature.
