Wimbledon did not disappoint in 2024, with the women's side of the competition throwing up huge matches and shock results across the tournament.
Ultimately, the majority of the favourites to win the trophy all slipped to disappointing campaigns, leaving Barbora Krejcikova to secure one of the most stunning triumphs at Wimbledon in recent memory. This has also been the case in 2025, with a swathe of favourites knocked out early in yet another unpredictable Slam.
| Women's Wimbledon Winner | Odds |
|---|---|
| Iga Swiatek | $1.40 |
| Amanda Anisimova | $3.10 |
Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina and Coco Gauff all arrived for the tournament in the top places in the betting, but all failed to reach the final. Sabalenka was eliminated in the semi-finals by Amanda Anisimova, but she struggled to really convince on grass this year.
This has opened the door for Iga Swiatek to swoop in and secure the trophy in London this season. She is the favourite at $1.40 to secure the trophy after another long and unpredictable fortnight at Wimbledon.
However, Swiatek has often struggled to come through on being one of the favourites. Her talent is not in question, but her ability to consistently contest finals is. Now, she has a huge chance to prove her doubters wrong with a single win now standing between her and glory.
Anisimova will not be a player that Swiatek should underestimate though. She was brilliant against Sabalenka in the semi-finals, and thoroughly deserves her place in the final.
The reigning champion, Barbora Krejcikova, arrived outside of the main group of favourites, but even with little pressure on her according to the odds, she still failed to get close to defending her crown.
As the only grass-court Slam of the year and the one most players want to win, everyone looks to bring their a-game to London. With so much incredible tennis talent on show across the course of the two weeks, it simply means nothing can be taken for granted.
The women's side of the game has been incredibly exciting due to the fact that any of the top players could win a Slam.
On the men's side, Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have dominated of late. Meanwhile, the likes of Sabalenka and Swiatek know that they cannot let their levels of performance drop for a second as it will likely see them eliminated, which is what happened to Swiatek in 2024.
Who will triumph at Wimbledon in 2024? Can Swiatek secure the silverware in London, or can Anisimova play one last ace?
