Jessica Pegula faces Barbora Krejcikova in the US Open quarter-final, seeking her first Grand Slam title. Pegula, consistent this season but struggling recently in major tournaments, has not faced top-ranked opponents at this event. Krejcikova, a two-time Grand Slam winner, made a dramatic comeback in her last match and has dominated their recent head-to-heads. Despite her lower ranking, Krejcikova's form and pedigree make her a strong underdog pick. The match promises high drama, with live streaming available for fans to follow all the action.

Jessica Pegula vs Barbora Krejcikova Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Home hope Jessica Pegula continues her bid for a maiden Grand Slam title when she comes up against two-time major champion Barbora Krejcikova in the US Open quarter-finals on Tuesday.

Krejcikova is one of the most mercurial players on tour and I think she's got as good a chance as anyone to make it three Grand Slam titles in New York. The Czech is back to full fitness and on fire, saving eight match points against Taylor Townsend in the fourth round - those are the types of wins that can land you major titles later in the tournament. Pegula meanwhile is playing solid, but she's yet to face a top 50 player at this US Open - and she won't again here, but Krejcikova is obviously much better than her current ranking of No. 62.

I can't quite understand how Krejcikova is almost a $3.00 outsider here. Pegula is a terrible 1-6 in Grand Slam quarter-finals and she was 2-4 in her last four tournaments before the US Open, where she hasn't had to face any elite players so far. Krejcikova has won the last two meetings and is a proven player at this stage of a major. More than happy to back the Czech with a +3.5 start and for the outright win.

Head To Head

Krejcikova leads 2-1, winning the last two meetings in Dubai 2023 and a 6-3 6-3 triumph at last year's WTA Finals.

Jessica Pegula Form

Pegula comes into this contest with a 41-16 record on the season, winning three WTA titles and currently operating at No. 4 in the world.

The American has collected silverware at Austin, Charleston and Bad Homburg and was also a finalist at the Miami Open.

However, Pegula's performances at the slams have been disappointing, losing in the third round of the Australian Open and the R16 at Roland Garros before crashing out in the first round of Wimbledon.

Pegula has struggled over the last couple of months, winning just two matches in her last four tournaments before arriving in New York.

The 31-year-old has cruised into her third US Open quarter-final this tournament, not dropping more than six games combined in straight sets victories over Mayar Sherif, Anna Blinkova, Victoria Azarenka and Ann Li.

Barbora Krejcikova Form

Krejcikova heads into this encounter with a 12-6 record on the season, spending the opening five months on the sidelines and gradually regaining her best tennis as the year has gone on.

The Czech made the third round of Wimbledon in her title defence, which was a solid effort considering her lack of match play. Krejcikova then enjoyed a decent warm-up for the US Open by reaching the fourth round of Cincinnati, beating Elina Svitolina along the way.

Tasked with a first round blockbuster at the US Open against recently-crowned Montreal champion Victoria Mboko, Krejcikova produced a thunderous performance to beat the teenager in straight sets before another routine victory over Moyuka Uchijuma.

Krejcikova then ran into a pair of Americans in the third and fourth rounds, silencing the home crowd by knocking out Emma Navarro and Taylor Townsend in three sets, saving a US Open record eight match points in the latter to prevail 1-6, 7-6 (13), 6-3 in three hours and four minutes.

Verdict

Pegula hasn't been in great form over the last couple of months and she hasn't faced a top 50 player in New York, so this is a huge step up in class.

Krejcikova has won the last two meetings and is a proven force deep into slams - I like the Czech as the underdog here.
