What a run it's been for both players. Anisimova has advanced into her second consecutive Grand Slam semi-final, avenging her Wimbledon final defeat to Iga Swiatek along the way, while Osaka has enjoyed a brilliant resurgence over the last month, coming into this clash having won 11 of her last 12 matches and reaching her first major semi-final since returning from maternity leave a couple of years ago.
It promises to be a cracking encounter, but I have to lean with Osaka. The former World No. 1 simply doesn't lose when she reaches this stage of a slam. Indeed, on each of the four occasions Osaka has cleared the R16 hurdle at a major, she's gone on to win the tournament. Osaka is also now just the third woman in the Open Era to have won her first five major quarter-finals. Anisimova is building nicely towards a major breakthrough and I'd back her against the majority of opponents - but Osaka is a different beast in this sort of mood and I think she's primed for a return to the final at Flushing Meadows.
Head To Head
Anisimova leads 2-0, but they haven't played since 2022 when the American prevailed 4-6 6-3 7-6 at the Australian Open and 7-5 6-4 at Roland Garros.
Amanda Anisimova Form
Anisimova is enjoying the best season of her career, compiling a 38-15 record and breaking into the world’s top 10 for the first time.
The American has taken her game to new heights in 2025, claiming the WTA 1000 title in Doha and reaching her first Grand Slam final at Wimbledon.
At just 24, she continues to set new milestones, now advancing to the US Open semi-finals for the first time.
Anisimova has only dropped one set on her way to the final four, defeating Kim Birrell, Maya Joint, Jaqueline Cristian and Beatriz Haddad Maia before producing a brilliant performance to conquer Iga Swiatek in the quarter-finals.
Just a couple of months removed from a 6-0 6-0 crushing at the hands of Swiatek in the Wimbledon final, Anisimova gained sweet revenge, striking 23 winners and converting four of nine break points in a 6-4 6-3 victory.
Naomi Osaka Form
Osaka is hitting her stride again, compiling a 31-12 record in 2025 and producing her best form since returning from maternity leave.
The four-time Grand Slam champion signalled her intent with a strong US Open lead-in, storming to the Montreal final after defeating three top-20 opponents, before falling to an inspired Victoria Mboko. That run secured her a Grand Slam seeding for the first time since her comeback, setting the stage for a deep New York campaign.
Osaka has continued to generate momentum at Flushing Meadows, reaching her first major quarter-semi-final since 2021. She has dropped only one set en route — pushed to three by Daria Kasatkina in round three — before delivering a statement win in the fourth round, obliterating defending champion Coco Gauff 6-3, 6-1 with thunderous shot-making.
The 27-year-old booked her spot in the semi-finals with a clean 6-4 7-6 win over Karolina Muchova, who had knocked her out of the US Open in the second round last year.

Verdict
Osaka has won every Grand Slam where she's made it past the R16 - and I don't think Anisimova can stop her.
The American is having a brilliant year and leads the H2H 2-0, but they haven't played since 2022 and Osaka looks destined for more glory in New York. Backing the two-time champion in three.
