Sinner continues to take his game and dominance to new heights - the Italian is now on a 26-match winning streak at hardcourt slams and is the youngest World No. 1 to have reached the semi-finals of all four majors in a single season, surpassing the likes of Ivan Lendl, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. It's crazy to think that if Sinner had taken one of his three championship points against Alcaraz in the Roland Garros final, he would be two wins away from achieving the Calendar Year Grand Slam - something that the Big Three rarely got close to even completing.
Anything other than another crushing straight sets win for Sinner would be a surprise here. The 24-year-old has been absolutely ruthless at this US Open - he's won the opening set 6-1 in three of his five matches, while he demolished Auger-Aliassime 6-0 6-2 in Cincinnati just before arriving in New York. Auger-Aliassime is obviously having a superb tournament, beating the likes of Alexander Zverev, Andrey Rublev and Alex de Minaur. However, it goes without saying this is a considerable step up in class and the ultimate test in tennis. I'm backing Sinner to cover a -7.5 games line and there's big value on the defending champion opening with another 6-1 first set score.
Head To Head
Auger-Aliassime leads 2-1, but both of his wins came in 2022, before Sinner became the player he is today. As mentioned, Sinner absolutely obliterated Auger-Aliassime 6-0 6-2 in the Cincinnati quarter-finals just a few weeks ago.
Jannik Sinner Form
Sinner has recorded a 36-4 record on the season coming into this contest, with his only defeats coming against Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Bublik.
The Italian has successfully defended his Australian Open title and picked up his maiden Wimbledon crown with a dominant win over Alcaraz in the final.
It's incredible to think that Sinner has held the No. 1 ranking all season, despite playing just six tournaments before the US Open due to his three-month suspension.
After retiring with illness in the Cincinnati final, Sinner has bounced back and is operating at the peak of his powers in New York.
Sinner dropped one set against Denis Shapovalov in the third round, but since then he's been on fire, crushing Alexander Bublik 6-1 6-1 6-1 before demolishing countryman Lorenzo Musetti 6-1 6-4 6-2.
Felix Auger-Aliassime Form
Auger-Aliassime has put together a 34-18 record on the season and is set to rise back into the world's top 15 after his surprise run to his second US Open semi-final.
The Canadian had a great start to the season, winning ATP titles in Adelaide and Montpellier, along with reaching the final of Dubai and semis of Doha.
However, Auger-Aliassime then won just one match until Hamburg, while he also struggled at the slams, winning just two matches across the year's previous three majors.
Auger-Aliassime has found his groove again this summer - after making the Cincinnati quarter-finals, he snapped a six-match losing run vs top five players at slams when he subdued Alexander Zverev in four sets.
Confident from that scalp, Auger-Aliassime has gone on to knock out Andrey Rublev in straights and Alex de Minaur in a four-set, four-hour marathon in the quarter-finals.
