Evergreen Turf Provincial Maiden Tips (Race 2)
Hawkesbury Favourite - Race 2 No. 2 Lion Hunt
While unable to land bets when heavily backed for a Kembla Grange maiden on June 2, Lion Hunt produced a sound debut when overcoming a slow start and a muddling race shape to finish third-of-nine without appearing to relish the Heavy ground.
The three-year-old looks to have come on from that first run if his two most recent trials are any indication, with the latest seeing him make ground nicely under Zac Lloyd at Warwick Farm.
Lloyd retains the race-day ride for Brad Widdup, with the jockey-trainer combination in hot form this season having combined seven times for four winners.
The locally based Widdup commands respect anywhere, not least when playing at home, with a strike rate of almost 21% at Hawkesbury over the last 12 months and an ROI above 19% here in the same period.
Lion Hunt is a deserving favourite, although well-bred debutant Hungry is worth keeping an eye on after trialling well, albeit he is bred to furnish over a lot more ground.

Hawkesbury Best Bet - Race 4 No. 1 Force March
Newcastle trainer Andrew Macdonald looks to have a progressive horse on his hands with Force March, a son of Grunt who showed raw talent through three runs in his first campaign.
The 1150m proved just a touch sharp on his Beaumont Newcastle return on August 25, but he still produced the second-fastest closing sectionals of a maiden that had some depth to it.
With the rise in distance suiting, Force March was heavily backed second-up at Muswellbrook and put the race away stylishly, recording the third-fastest final 200m of the entire program.
The 1500m is unknown territory, although he has always looked the type who will get over some ground and appears to have continued improving with racing.
The step out of maiden company is never straightforward, but connections appear to have found a very winnable Class 1 for a horse with upside and a decent enough price is available to see if he can make it back-to-back wins.

Hawkesbury Value Bet - Race 6 No. 3 Equilibrist
Equilibrist’s winter performances were much better than they read, with three of his four outings coming in metropolitan company and circumstances going against him during that period.
He was held up in both a Midway and the Midweek Benchmark 72 that followed, yet went around at $21 when dropping to this grade and saluting on August 29, where the rise in distance suited the son of Trapeze Artist.
The form from that victory reads well, with beaten favourite Oakfield Utah subsequently atoning at Newcastle last Saturday to make it three wins from his past four starts.
Keeping Equilibrist around the seven-to-eight-furlong range looks to suit these days and, despite rising 2kg in the weights, he finds a race no harder with confidence now under his belt.
He has drawn wide but is likely to be ridden cold before chiming in late under Lee Magorrian, who was in the saddle for his latest success, and an each-way quote is available for a runner who only needs to hold his form to be in the mix again.

Hawkesbury Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 1 I Am Adonis
Gelded ahead of his third campaign after racing once as both a two-year-old and early three-year-old, the Team Hawkes-trained I Am Adonis improved off a fair Rosehill return on April 6 to bolt in with a Wyong Super Maiden on April 30.
Sent around a short-priced favourite, he opened up a big margin and among the beaten brigade was Funshow, who quickly gave up the chase before going unbeaten through three winter starts, including a Saturday Benchmark 72 at Rosehill.
I Am Adonis was spelled after that second-up triumph and arrives here off a good Rosehill trial on September 8 in a decent heat, where he arguably worked better than trial winner Brave One, a highly regarded stablemate rated well above this grade.
Golden Straand was third in that same heat before subsequently saluting at Randwick last Saturday, adding another positive reference to the trial form.
The gelding is also very well bred, being a half-brother to Group 2 winner Grinzinger Heart, while his full brother Banjora is a very talented sprinter with three wins from five starts and has also been trialling well ahead of a possible Saturday return.
