Tom And Pat Eeles Memorial Maiden Tips (Race 2)
Northam Value Bet - Race 2 No. 3 Frosted Warrior
The trainer and jockey combination of Stefan Vahala and Steven Parnham has been profitable to follow over the past 12 months, and the pair combine with Frosted Warrior in Wednesday's second race.
The gelding was uncompetitive through most of his juvenile season, although all four starts came in Saturday metropolitan company, and he returns as a three-year-old with several gear changes along with being gelded during the break.
He caught the eye when runner-up to Treasured Legacy in a Lark Hill trial on September 7, with that smart filly subsequently winning at Belmont, before another quiet hit-out seven days later.
They attempted to hide Frosted Warrior when taken back early in a September 14 Belmont trial and he finished ninth-of-ten under a firm hold, but there was much more merit in the effort than the bare result suggests as he worked strongly through and beyond the line.
There has been some early market interest following those two trials, and with Steven Parnham aboard from barrier four, Frosted Warrior should get his chance.
Max And Doss Smith Memorial Maiden Tips (Race 4)
Northam Best Bet - Race 4 No. 8 Grey Ol' Day
There was solid market support for Grey Ol' Day on debut in a Saturday two-year-old event at Ascot on February 28, but the Matt Nash-trained galloper raced greenly and was subsequently spelled.
The three-year-old returned with a Belmont trial victory on August 31 before resuming over 1200m there on September 12, producing a somewhat unusual effort when appearing well beaten before rallying again late for third.
There was plenty of substance to that form, with winner Swift Ruler completing a hat-trick, while runner-up Yamanex had already shown stakes-level ability as a juvenile.
Grey Ol' Day also finished more than half a length ahead of Boy Crush, who had defeated the handy Dawn Dancer at his previous start, giving the form another strong reference heading into Wednesday.
Early-season three-year-olds can still be learning their craft, but dropping back into provincial maiden company at set weights and stepping to 1300m gives Grey Ol' Day a good opportunity to break through at start three.

Northam Next Best Bet - Race 6 No. 6 Heavenly Rapture
Mitchell Pateman has made a strong start to the season, and Heavenly Rapture returns to provincial company with Holly Watson continuing her long association with the mare.
Watson has partnered the daughter of Playing God in nine of her 11 starts, including her Pinjarra maiden breakthrough over 1800m on February 22 before a solid fifth in the Listed Natasha Stakes over 2200m.
That is the same distance she reaches on Wednesday with three runs now under her belt, and although her second-up effort at Belmont on August 29 was plain, her return a fortnight earlier behind Bosun contained plenty of merit.
She was a notable drifter before finishing fourth at Bunbury on September 10, where the slowly run race did not play to her strengths and she lacked the turn-of-foot required late over 1675m.
Heavenly Rapture is beginning to shape as a genuine staying type, and the rise to 2200m makes this the most suitable assignment she has encountered since breaking her maiden.
