Alex de Minaur vs Felix Auger-Aliassime Tips, Prediction & Live Stream - Felix tipped to continue great run into semis
Alex de Minaur and Felix Auger-Aliassime face off in a crucial US Open quarter-final match. De Minaur, consistent in reaching this stage, remains winless in Grand Slam QFs (0-5). Auger-Aliassime, already a past US Open semi-finalist, arrives in top form after major wins over Zverev and Rublev. The Canadian leads their hardcourt head-to-head 2-0 and is favored to advance, especially if he maintains his recent aggression. De Minaur has become just the fourth Australian to reach three or more US Open quarter-finals after Lleyton Hewitt, John Newcombe and Ken Rosewall. The Aussie has transformed into a remarkably consistent competitor at the majors - this is now his fifth Grand Slam quarter-final in his last seven appearances. However, de Minaur does seem to have hit his ceiling when it comes to this stage of a tournament - he's current 0-5 in major quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, Auger-Aliassime has previously tasted success at this stage of the US Open, making the semi-finals back in 2021. The Canadian has recaptured some of his best tennis this tournament, coming into this encounter following wins over Alexander Zverev and Andrey Rublev. De Minaur meanwhile hasn't faced a top 50 player all tournament and just one inside the top 80, so this is a massive step up in class. Auger-Aliassime will likely dictate the outcome of this match - if he maintains his current level and remains aggressive, I'm backing him in for the upset in four or five sets.
Head To Head
Auger-Aliassime leads 2-1, winning both of their hardcourt meetings in 2022 in straight sets. De Minaur prevailed 67(2) 64 64 in their most-recent clash on the clay of Rome last year.
Alex de Minaur Form
De Minaur comes into this clash with a 41-15 record on the season and back inside the top 10 having successfully defended his US Open quarter-final points from last year.
The Aussie has won a tour-leading 28 matches on hardcourt throughout 2025, highlighted by his recent title triumph in Washington, where he saved multiple championship points to defeat Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
It's been another consistent season for de Minaur, who has also made the semi-finals of Monte Carlo, quarter-finals of the Australian Open and the final of Rotterdam.
De Minaur has received a favourable draw this US Open, facing just one opponent inside the top 80 as he's advanced to the last eight for the loss of just one set.
The 26-year-old faced Leandro Riedi in the R16, a Swiss qualifier ranked outside the top 400. De Minaur was unsurprisingly clinical, posting a routine 6-3, 6-2, 6-1 win in one hour and 33 minutes.
Felix Auger-Aliassime Form
Auger-Aliassime has registered a 33-18 record in what has been a wildly up and down season so far.
The Canadian won two ATP titles in Adelaide and Montpellier across the opening two months, along with reaching the final in Dubai and the semis in Doha.
However, Auger-Aliassime then won just one match until Hamburg, where promptly made another run to the semi-finals.
Auger-Aliassime suffered early exits at both Roland Garros and Wimbledon, but he's playing well in New York after making the quarter-finals of Cincinnati.
The 25-year-old posted his first top five win at a major when he defeated third seed Alexander Zverev in the third round and backed it up with a straight sets demolition of Andrey Rublev in the R16.

Verdict
De Minaur hasn't been tested this tournament and has a concerning 0-5 record in Grand Slam quarter-finals.
Auger-Aliassime has won both previous hardcourt meetings and when he's playing well, he's the superior player out of the pair. Confident from his previous two wins over Zverev and Rublev, I think Auger-Aliassime is primed for another upset and a second US Open semi-final.
