Chris Waller has had a strong recent hold on the Queen Of The Turf Stakes, preparing the last three winners of this fillies and mares feature, with the last two ridden by James McDonald.

That combination teams up with Lady Shenandoah, who heads the market for the 2026 Queen Of The Turf Stakes at $3.50 with Unibet Australia.

While she hasn’t won in her four-year-old season, there have been encouraging signs both second and third-up before running into a dominant Autumn Glow in the George Ryder Stakes.

Her last attempt over the Randwick mile resulted in a dominant Group 1 victory in the 2024 Flight Stakes, which reads well for this assignment.

Treasurethe Moment ($4.40) also brings proven class as a four-time Group 1 winner and, after a run of outs since her Memsie Stakes triumph first-up on August 30, she bounced back to winning form last time out.

That victory came at Group 2 level over this distance at Caulfield when second-up, and the mare has an excellent Sydney record.

She has won both previous Sydney attempts, each at Group 1 level when successful in last year’s Vinery Stud Stakes and Australian Oaks.

Pride Of Jenni ($5) has opted for the Queen Of The Turf Stakes over the Queen Elizabeth Stakes, with the exciting front-runner looking to improve off two placings to open her autumn campaign.

That includes a brave last-start effort when narrowly defeated in the Australian Cup, and she now drops back in distance for this feature.

It shouldn’t be a knock, with three of her four Group 1 victories recorded over this trip.

Idle Flyer ($7) rounds out the single-figure chances, with the four-year-old sharply up in grade but is arguably the most progressive runner in the field.

She arrives off a second-up Group 2 victory at Rosehill on March 28 and now faces her toughest test to date.

Queen Of The Turf Stakes Winners

Registered and run as the Queen Of The Turf Stakes since its inception in 1972, this 1600m feature was originally contested over 1500m at Rosehill.

Gaining Group 1 status in 2005, the race was moved to Royal Randwick in 2014 to form part of The Championships and, with that change, received a significant prizemoney boost to become a $1 million feature.

Also known as the Coolmore Legacy Stakes, the weight-for-age conditions of this Group 1 allow the premier mares to target the race well in advance, while also providing three-year-old fillies the opportunity to take on older rivals.

Atishu (2023), Zougotcha (2024) and Fangirl (2025) have taken out the last three editions of the Queen Of The Turf Stakes.
