Following a disappointing last-start effort as favourite in the Toorak Handicap, the current campaign for Amelia's Jewel (barrier 5) appeared to be in doubt, however, strong subsequent work has encouraged connections to push on.
A winner of nine from 12 starts overall, she finished out of the money for the first time in her career via the Toorak Handicap and it's worth noting that last year's Golden Eagle winner (I Wish I Win) was also a beaten favourite in the Toorak before taking out this event.
Hawaii Five Oh (barrier 4) looks well suited out to 1500m now, with his last two victories coming over seven furlongs last autumn, while his recent form around Think About It, Private Eye and I Wish I Win reads superbly for this four-year-old feature.
The Waterhouse & Bott yard will also be represented by Coin Toss (barrier 17), an ex-Singapore galloper who finished ninth on Australian debut via the Silver Eagle, while European import New Endeavour (barrier 13) comes out of the same lead-up race.
Kovalica (barrier 16) has been interestingly placed following a Queensland Derby triumph back in May, as he's been kept to these shorter trips despite seemingly crying for 2000m after competitive 1600m showings via his last two runs.
Chris Waller also prepares Rediener (barrier 3), Osipenko (barrier 8), Vienna Princess (barrier 9) and Age Of Kings (barrier 11), with the latter being a last-start Royal Ascot winner who is set to make his Australian debut in The Golden Eagle.
Legarto (barrier 6) is a talented New Zealand-based mare who won the Australian Guineas at Flemington in March before a spell, while with a Group 1 placing followed by a Listed win as an odds-on fav in the Matamata Cup on October 7, the daughter of Proisir is ticking over well this campaign.
Obamburumai (barrier 2) is a lightly raced Japanese visitor who has won two Group races in the 1400m-1600m range and Keiji Yoshimura-trained entire was a single-figure chance for this feature pre-barrier draw.
Godolphin will be represented by Pericles (barrier 1) and Golden Mile (barrier 18), while last-start Toorak Handicap winner Attrition (barrier 19) travels north for the in-form Mitchell Freedman stable.
Galeron (barrier 14) is the sole European-based galloper in the final field and while he's been mixing his form this year, the Charles Hills-trained four-year-old has been competitive twice at Group 1 level.
20 runners make up the final field for the 2023 Golden Eagle, which includes eight individual Group 1 winners.

The Golden Eagle Winners
The Golden Eagle is one of Australia's newest races, which has given a huge incentive for owners to resist allure from studs and continue racing colts into their four-year-old season.
Run over the distance of 1500 metres at Rosehill Racecourse, the prize money is now $10 million in total (10% goes to nominated charities) and was contested for the first time in 2019.
Kolding (2019), Colette (2020), I'm Thunderstruck (2021) and I Wish I Win (2022) have won the four editions of The Golden Eagle.
