Fresh off securing his 100th career title in Geneva last week, Djokovic looks to have restored some confidence as he targets a deep run at Roland Garros - a tournament he hasn't lost a completed match at since 2022 and of course the venue in which he captured Olympic Gold last year. Unbeaten in the second round of the French Open since his debut appearance back in 2005, Djokovic will obviously be confident of advancing in this contest.
Moutet is always an entertaining watch - a typical Frenchman who provides plenty of highlight moments, but when push comes to shove, the consistency just isn't there to trouble the game's elite. This is illustrated through his 1-13 record against top 10 players throughout his career. Djokovic has won both previous meetings in straight sets and should extend that record come Thursday in Paris.
Head To Head
Djokovic leads 2-0, winning 76(2) 64 in the R32 of the Paris Masters in 2019 before a 63 61 beatdown in the R64 of the Rome Masters last year.
Novak Djokovic Form
Djokovic comes into this clash with a 17-7 record on the season and riding a five-match winning streak.
It's the third time Djokovic has put together five-match winning runs in 2025 - the first came at the Australian Open when he was forced to retire in the semi-finals due to a hamstring injury and the second was at the Miami Masters, where he advanced to the final before going down in straights to young gun Jakub Mensik.
It wasn't an ideal start to the clay swing for Djokovic - he lost in straight sets in Monte Carlo and Madrid to Alejandro Tabilo and Matteo Arnaldi respectively, but bounced back by winning his 100th title in Geneva last week, conquering Hubert Hurkacz in the final.
Djokovic has received a kind draw through the first week at Roland Garros and had no trouble in his opening round, easing past Mackenzie McDonald 6-3 6-3 6-3.
Corentin Moutet Form
Moutet heads into this encounter with an even 9-9 record on the season and down at No. 73 in the rankings.
The Frenchman's most impressive results of the season were in his first tournament and most-recent event.
Indeed, Moutet launched the year with a third round appearance at the Australian Open before failing to win back-to-back tour-level matches until the Rome Masters.
Moutet then raised his level and secured his first ever top 10 victory, outlasting Holger Rune in a deciding set tiebreak before going down to Jack Draper in three sets in the R16.
The 26-year-old was victorious in his Roland Garros opener, defeating countryman Clement Tabur 6-3, 7-6, 6-3. Moutet will now look to draw upon memories of last year, where he reached the French Open R16 and took a set off Jannik Sinner.

Verdict
Moutet has the ability to get on a roll, especially with the home crowd support, but I just don't see him having the necessary power to hit through a resurgent Djokovic.
This will be plenty of fun, but a straight sets win for Djokovic is the most likely outcome.
