In a highly anticipated French Open semi-final, World No. 1 Jannik Sinner takes on 24-time major champion Novak Djokovic. Sinner, on a 19-match Grand Slam winning streak, faces Djokovic who has rejuvenated his form lately, winning his 100th title in Geneva. Despite Sinner's recent dominance, the article suggests Djokovic holds betting value due to his underdog status, a rarity since 2009. The encounter promises high drama, with Djokovic's experience potentially tipping the scales. Both players exhibit formidable form, making this a must-watch showdown.

Jannik Sinner vs Novak Djokovic Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

It's a blockbuster semi-final clash as World No. 1 Jannik Sinner and 24-time major champion Novak Djokovic square off for a place in the French Open final on Friday.

Sinner has established himself as the undisputed World No. 1, riding a 19-match winning streak at Grand Slam level, along with winning 108 of his last 116 matches dating back to October 2023. Pure dominance.

Djokovic meanwhile has enjoyed a mini-resurgence over the last few weeks, securing his 100th career title in Geneva before advancing to the French Open semi-finals, taking the scalp of last year's runner-up Alexander Zverev in four sets along the way. Djokovic hasn't lost a match at Roland Garros since 2022, winning the title in 2023 and also claiming Olympic Gold in Paris last year.

Look, I do think Sinner most likely wins this match. However, the Italian is just way too short at $1.20 and at the end of the day, he's still trying to break new ground having never been beyond this stage at Roland Garros. He's also less than a month back into competition after his suspension. Djokovic holds all the value at $4.15 and a massive $11.50 in 3-1 set betting. Incredibly, Djokovic hasn't been this big an underdog with the bookies since his 2009 US Open semi-final defeat to Roger Federer.

I'll back Djokovic to cover a +5.5 games line as the best bet, with small stakes on the GOAT defying the odds and coming away with what would be one of his most memorable career wins.

Head To Head

Currently locked at 4-4, but Sinner has won four of the last five meetings. This will be their first encounter since the 2024 Shanghai Masters final, which Sinner won by a 7-6 6-3 score.

Jannik Sinner Form

Just complete and utter dominance from Sinner - he's 17-1 for the season and on a 19-match winning streak at Grand Slams following his title triumphs at the US and Australian Opens.

Even more impressively, Sinner has won 11 of his last 12 meetings with top 10 players - and incredibly, he's won all of those matches in straight sets.

The only blemish on that record was last month's defeat to Carlos Alcaraz in the Rome final, with the Spaniard still a puzzle piece the Italian is yet to fully solve - especially on clay.

Sinner hasn't lost a step since his suspension - in fact, he might have come back stronger than ever. The 23-year-old hasn't dropped a set on his way to the Roland Garros semi-finals, delivering a bagel in three of his five matches, completely demolishing the likes of Andrey Rublev, Jiri Lehecka and Alexander Bublik.

Novak Djokovic Form

Djokovic has improved his season record to 21-7 over the last few weeks, coming into this clash on a nine-match winning streak, which is his longest of the year.

It's been a challenging season on a number of fronts for Djokovic and it looked like getting worse as he began his clay swing with a pair of straight defeats in Monte Carlo and Madrid.

However, Djokovic restored some confidence by battling his way to a 100th career title in Geneva and he's carried that momentum into Paris this past fortnight.

The 24-time major champion breezed through his opening four matches in straight sets before producing his best performance of the season against Zverev in the quarter-finals, coming back from a set down to register a vintage 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 win.

Verdict

As mentioned, Sinner probably wins this.

But, I can't ignore Djokovic being at his biggest odds since 2009. He's the GOAT and can never be discounted, while Sinner hasn't been beyond this stage in Paris and truth be told, his draw has been fairly soft.

Djokovic holds all the value in this semi-final showdown.
