Andreeva has put together a tremendous season and is currently operating at a career-high ranking of No. 6 in the world, highlighted by winning two WTA 1000 titles. Andreeva, who recently celebrated her 18th birthday, is the youngest player since Martina Hingis to win 10 main draw matches at Roland Garros, while she's also now reached at least the R16 in five of the nine major tournament's she contested in her young career.
Andreeva will also have revenge on her mind here after going down to Kasatkina in the Ningbo final last year. Kasatkina, who recently switched nationalities to Australia from Russia, was struggling for her best tennis this season, but has lifted at Roland Garros, recording her first top 10 win in 11 months when she conquered Paula Badosa in the previous round. However, I don't see her troubling Andreeva if her younger opponent maintains her current level - 14 of her last 18 wins have come in straight sets and this could be another one-sided affair.
Head To Head
As mentioned, Kasatkina leads 1-0 having won their only previous meeting 6-0 4-6 6-4 in last year's Ningbo final.
Mirra Andreeva Form
Andreeva comes into this showdown with a 30-7 record on the season, cementing herself as a top 10 player and legitimate title contender in every tournament she enters.
Undoubtedly Andreeva's highlights came earlier in the season on hardcourt when she won back-to-back WTA 1000 titles in Dubai and Indian Wells, defeating Iga Swiatek (twice), Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina along the way.
The 18-year-old hasn't quite continued that red-hot form, but she still managed to reach quarter-finals in Madrid and Rome, where she was toppled twice by nemesis Coco Gauff.
Andreeva made her maiden Grand Slam semi-final at Roland Garros last year and she looks good to go deep again after cruising into the second week with straight sets wins over Cristina Bucsa, Ashlyn Krueger and Yulia Putintseva.
Daria Kasatkina Form
Kasatkina arrived at Roland Garros with a negative 11-12 record on the season, but she's won three matches so far over the last week, finding her best tennis for the big stage.
Peaking at No. 8 in the world after reaching six WTA finals last year, Kasatkina is now searching for her first quarter-final appearance in five months.
Since February, Kasatkina had failed to win back-to-back matches at her last seven tournaments, but the new Australian is looking strong in Paris.
A former semi-finalist at the French Open, Kasatkina has navigated a tough draw to make the R16, edging out Katerina Siniakova in three sets, overcoming local hope Leolia Jeanjean 6-4 6-2 and notching her first top 10 scalp in almost a year with a 6-1 7-5 dispatch of Paula Badosa.
