Iga Swiatek and Emma Raducanu are set to face off in the second round of Roland Garros. Swiatek, a four-time champion here, has an impressive 36-2 record at the tournament. However, she hasn't reached a final since winning the 2024 French Open, leading to a drop in confidence. Raducanu, on the other hand, is finally injury-free and showing signs of her 2021 US Open-winning form. With her improved performance, Raducanu poses a formidable challenge in this exciting matchup.

Iga Swiatek vs Emma Raducanu Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Four-time Roland Garros champion Iga Swiatek meets former US Open winner Emma Raducanu in the first week for a second consecutive slam when the pair clash in the second round in Paris on Wednesday.

Swiatek has been almost unbeatable at Roland Garros throughout her career, compiling a staggering 36-2 record at the tournament and winning four of the last five editions. However, Swiatek hasn't reached a final since winning the French Open in 2024, dropping to No. 5 in the world and losing confidence in the big matches as a result.

Raducanu meanwhile appears to be finally playing injury-free, while linking up with one of the sharpest minds in tennis in Mark Petchey is also a huge bonus. Raducanu has made the quarter-finals (Miami) and R16 (Rome) in big WTA 1000 events in 2025 and could be gradually getting her way back to the sort of tennis that saw her stun the world by winning the US Open in 2021. Raducanu has covered a +6.5 line in both her previous clay meetings with Swiatek and on current form, she looks good to repeat that effort in Paris.

Head To Head

Swiatek leads 4-0, winning all four meetings in straight sets - including a 6-1 6-0 beatdown in the third round of the Australian Open earlier this year. However, Raducanu has been competitive in both of their encounters on clay, with Swiatek prevailing 6-4 6-4 and 7-6 6-3 at Stuttgart in 2022 and 2024.

Iga Swiatek Form

Swiatek comes into this clash with a 28-9 record on the season, but still without a single final appearance, let alone title, since emerging triumphant at Roland Garros last year.

It's not like Swiatek has been crashing out early of tournaments either - she's made seven quarter-finals or semi-finals already in 2025, but repeatedly stumbles at the business end.

In her three lead-in events, Swiatek was beaten by nemesis Jelena Ostapenko in Stuttgart, crushed by Coco Gauff in Madrid and again easily put away by Danielle Collins in Rome.

Down to No. 5 in the world, Swiatek also faced some tricky moments in her Roland Garros opener against Rebecca Sramkova, coming back from 1-3 down in the second set to emerge a 6-3 6-3 winner.

Emma Raducanu Form

Raducanu heads into this showdown with a 13-10 record on the season, improving her ranking to No. 41 in the world as she looks to climb her way back near the upper echelon of the sport.

Obviously the Brit has struggled with injuries and immense expectations/pressure since her historic 2021 US Open triumph, but she looks to be in her best shape in years at the moment.

Raducanu made the quarter-finals of the Miami Open and was also impressive in reaching the fourth round of Rome, where it took Coco Gauff to stop her.

Still just 22 years of age, Raducanu is competing at Roland Garros for just the second time in her career and managed to overcome Wang Xinyu 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 in her opening round.

Verdict

Swiatek has won 36 of her 38 matches at Roland Garros, so a defeat here would be a seismic shock, no matter how you spin it.

In saying that, Swiatek hasn't been herself for nearly a year and found herself in trouble against a lesser player in R1. If Raducanu can maintain her current level, she should be able to cover a big +6.5 line here.
