Swiatek needs just one more win to break Monica Seles' record for most consecutive victories at Roland Garros in the Open Era. The Pole recovered from a 1-6 0-2 deficit to roll over Elena Rybakina in the R16, extending her winning streak at the French Open to 25 matches. Meanwhile, Svitolina also registered a miraculous comeback victory, saving three match points to edge out last year's runner-up Jasmine Paolini, also snapping the Rome champion's nine-match winning streak.

Still without a final since emerging triumphant at Roland Garros last year, Swiatek has struggled when reaching the latter stages of tournaments lately. However, I think she gets through this match. Svitolina has been amazing since returning on tour, but the Ukrainian has a dire 3-9 record in Grand Slam quarter-finals and is 0-4 in the last eight in Paris. Backing Swiatek in straights here.

Head To Head

Swiatek leads 3-1, with all three of her wins coming in straight sets - including a most-recent 7-6 6-3 victory in the R16 of Miami earlier this season.

Iga Swiatek Form

Swiatek heads into this showdown with a 31-9 record on the season, but she's slipped to No. 5 in the world and is without a title since emerging with the silverware 12 months ago in Paris.

It's been the most challenging period of Swiatek's career since she rose to the top of the game, but perhaps a return to Roland Garros will spark a change in fortunes.

The 24-year-old is on a 25-match winning streak at this tournament and is aiming to become the first woman in the Open Era to win Roland Garros four years on the bounce.

Swiatek navigated her three opening rounds with minimal fuss, dispatching Rebecca Sramkova, Emma Raducanu and Jaqueline Cristian without dropping a set. However, the Pole was forced to dig deep in her R16 clash with Rybakina, coming back from 1-6 and 0-2 down to close out a 1-6, 6-3, 7-5 triumph in two-and-a-half hours.

Elina Svitolina Form

Svitolina comes into this encounter with a 29-8 record on the season, really picking things up during this clay swing.

Indeed, Svitolina has won 18 of her 20 matches on clay in 2025, including winning the title in Rouen, reaching the semi-finals in Madrid and the quarter-finals in Rome.

The Ukrainian has advanced into her fifth Roland Garros quarter-final this tournament, also backing up her run to the last eight at the Australian Open to launch the season.

Svitolina defeated Zeynep Sonmez, Anna Bondar and Bernarda Pera in straight sets before scripting a fantastic comeback against Paolini, saving three match points and coming back from a set and 3-5 down to emerge a 4-6, 7-6, 6-1 winner.

Verdict

Both players registered brilliant comeback victories in the R16 to set up this quarter-final showdown.

Swiatek has typically faltered in the quarters and semis of tournaments over the last 12 months, but Roland Garros is a different story. The Pole is on the verge of a record-breaking win here and I'm backing her to do it in style.
