Up to No. 2 in the world following runner-up finishes in Madrid and Rome earlier this month, Gauff is certainly one of the leading contenders for the Roland Garros title over the next fortnight. The American has never lost before the quarter-finals in her four previous appearances in Paris and has a dominant 19-3 record in Grand Slam opening round matches, with all three defeats coming against former top 15 players.
That doesn't bode well for Gadecki, who is down at No. 91 in the world and has won just one tour-level match this season. The Aussie unfortunately hasn't been able to adapt to the main tour since cracking the top 100 late last year and faces a big rankings drop in the coming months unless she delivers some better results, which she's shown no indication of doing. Can't see Gadecki making things competitive here, so backing Gauff with a -6.5 games line.

Gauff comes into this contest with a 24-8 record on the season, finally finding some of her best form over the last month on European clay.
After failing to win more than two matches in a row from the Middle East swing in February to Madrid in May, Gauff recaptured some good tennis in her last two tournaments.
The American registered some dominant wins over the likes of Mirra Andreeva and Iga Swiatek to finish runner-up in Madrid, going down to Aryna Sabalenka, while she backed it up with another final appearance in Rome, defeating Qinwen Zheng in the semis before going down to home favourite Jasmine Paolini.
Those results, coupled with titles late last year in Beijing and the WTA Finals, have propelled Gauff to No. 2 in the world and the second seeding at Roland Garros. The 21-year-old has never lost before the quarter-finals in her last four appearances at the French Open, making the final in 2022 and the semis in 2024.
Olivia Gadecki Form
Gadecki arrives at this encounter with an overall 6-15 record on the season, but only one of those victories have come in WTA main draw matches.
The Aussie shot into the top 100 on the back of a shock run as a qualifier to the WTA 500 Guadalajara final in October 2024, but she hasn't been able to build on that result.
Indeed, Gadecki only managed one win in her first 11 matches of the season and is really struggling to find the type of tennis that saw her make that aforementioned final in Mexico last year.
The 23-year-old lost in qualifying of her last tournament in Rome, made it into the main draw as a lucky loser and went down in three sets to Caroline Dolehide.
Gadecki will be making her French Open main draw debut and has only ever won one match at a slam in her career (AO, 2023).
