Undisputedly the best player on clay over the last couple of years, Alcaraz is bidding to become the first player since Rafael Nadal in 2019-20 to defend the Roland Garros title. The Spaniard has won 28 of his last 30 matches on clay, including 16 of his 17 matches on the surface in 2025 - with his only defeat coming when he picked up an injury in the Barcelona final.
After easing to a straight sets victory in his opening round, Alcaraz will need to be fully focused here. Marozsan is capable of some massive tennis, as illustrated through his impressive 6-8 record against top 10 players - which includes an upset over Alcaraz on clay in Rome a couple of years ago. While he was impressive in the first round, Alcaraz does have a history of taking the scenic route in the early rounds of slams. With this in mind, I'm backing Alcaraz to win Over 18.5 total games as the best bet - this essentially means we just need Marozsan to win 5+ games in just one set to be successful. For the record, Alcaraz has won over 18.5 total games in 13 of his last 15 wins at the majors.
Head To Head
Currently locked at 1-1. Marozsan was a shock 63 76(4) winner at $23 odds in the R32 of Rome 2023, while Alcaraz returned serve with a 6-3 6-3 victory in the R16 of Indian Wells last year.
Carlos Alcaraz Form
Alcaraz heads into this showdown with a 31-5 record on the season, unsurprisingly raising his level and improving his consistency since stepping back onto European clay.
Despite a title in Rotterdam, it wasn't a great hardcourt swing at the start of the season for Alcaraz, most notably losing to an injured Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open quarter-finals as he attempted to complete the Career Grand Slam.
However, Alcaraz is back playing some of his best tennis, putting together a 16-1 record on clay over the last couple of months, collecting two more Masters 1000 titles in Monte Carlo and Rome, while he was forced to miss Madrid after injuring himself in the Barcelona final against Holger Rune.
Alcaraz couldn't have asked for a better start to his Roland Garros title defence, easing past Italian qualifier 6-3, 6-4, 6-2.
Fabian Marozsan Form
Marozsan heads into this encounter with a 15-13 record on the season, remaining a dangerous floater at the big events but struggling with his consistency to make that next jump in the rankings.
The Hungarian hit a peak ranking of No. 36 last year and is currently at No. 56 coming into the French Open.
Marozsan had a solid start to the season, making the quarter-finals in Hong Kong and the Australian Open third round, while he was also a semi-finalist in Munich and defeated Andrey Rublev to make the third round of the Madrid Masters.
The 25-year-old lost in the second round of Geneva last week to Matteo Arnaldi, but was untroubled in his Roland Garros opener, cruising past Luca Nardi 6-2 6-3 7-6.

Verdict
Always tough to find some value in these early round slam matches involving the top seeds barring a massive upset, which is very unlikely to happen here.
However, Alcaraz more often than not is dragged into a battle in at least one set at the slams, winning Over 18.5 total games in 13 of his last 15 outings in major matches. Backing that trend to continue against an opponent who tends to lift against top 10 opponents.
