In an exciting match in Brisbane, two-time champion Grigor Dimitrov faces off against upcoming talent Raphael Collignon. Dimitrov has an impressive record at the venue, and his performance in the opening match shows promise for this season. On the other hand, Collignon, a strong player known for his powerful serve, has been on the rise, collecting significant wins recently. Although Dimitrov faces a tough challenge, his experience might give him the edge in this first-time encounter. The recommendation leans towards Dimitrov to advance to the quarter-finals, but it looks to be a close contest.

Grigor Dimitrov vs Raphael Collignon Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

One of the more eye-catching matches on Thursday in Brisbane pits two-time champion Grigor Dimitrov up against the rising Raphael Collignon, with the winner set to advance into the quarter-finals.

Nobody has won more matches at the Brisbane International than Dimitrov - the Bulgarian first competed at the tournament back in 2012 and has compiled a 27-7 record, winning the title twice and finishing runner-up on another occasion. Six times previously Dimitrov has advanced to at least the semi-finals, so this is certainly one of his favourite tournaments on the calendar. Meanwhile, I have Collignon pencilled in as a player to watch in 2026. The powerful Belgian had a terrific end to last season and has immense firepower from the back of the court and behind his serve. Currently ranked No. 84, I have Collignon inside the top 30 by season's end.

So I'm very interested to see how the Belgian performs here. I think the court and conditions should suit his game perfectly, but Dimitrov is such a menace and so consistent in Brisbane. The Bulgarian showed no signs of rust in his opening match and he can utilise his slice to deal with Collignon's power. Dimitrov has a fantastic record against players ranked outside the top 80, so I will back the two-time champ to get the job done in a close one.
  • Dimitrov has won 33 of his last 34 completed matches vs players ranked outside the top 80
  • Dimitrov has won 27 of his 34 previous matches in Brisbane
  • Dimitrov has reached at least the quarter-finals in his last seven appearances in Brisbane
  • Collignon has won 21 of his last 28 matches at all levels

Dimitrov vs Collignon Head To Head

This will be the first meeting between the pair.

Grigor Dimitrov Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 1-0
  • 2025 Record: 15-11
  • ATP Brisbane Record: 27-7
  • Current Ranking: No. 47
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 3 (2017)

Considered a veteran on tour now at 34 years of age, Dimitrov endured an injury-riddled 2025 season, which saw him effectively cut his year short after Wimbledon, where a pectoral injury cruelly robbed him of a chance to defeat Jannik Sinner in the R16 as he led the Italian two sets to love.

Dimitrov returned towards the end of the year at the Paris Masters to dip his toes back in the water and after a full preseason, is hoping to climb back up the rankings after almost dropping out of the top 50.

The Bulgarian enjoyed the perfect start to his 2026 season in his Brisbane opener, cruising past fellow veteran Pablo Carreno Busta 6-3 6-2, maintaining his record of never dropping a set against the Spaniard on a hardcourt.

Dimitrov improved his stellar Brisbane record to 27-7 in the process and will now be looking to make it an eighth straight quarter-final at the tournament.

Raphael Collignon Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 1-0
  • 2025 Record: 9-11
  • ATP Brisbane Record: 1-0
  • Current Ranking: No. 84
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 73 (October 2025)

Collignon is a player on the rise after putting together a spectacular finish to 2025, which saw him win 21 of his last 27 matches at all levels, breaking into the top 100 and peaking at No. 73 in October.

The 23-year-old took the scalps of Alex de Minaur and Casper Ruud during that period, along with reaching his first ATP semi-final at his home tournament in Brussels.

Anyone that can defeat de Minaur in Australia (Sydney for Davis Cup) and outlast Ruud in five sets (to make the US Open third round) is a serious player and honestly I think the sky's the limit for Collignon in 2026.

The Belgian has started 2026 in superb fashion, qualifying for the Brisbane main draw with straight sets victories over Alexander Shevchenko and Ethan Quinn before upsetting former top 10 player Denis Shapovalov 6-4 6-2 in the opening round.
