Amanda Anisimova vs Marta Kostyuk Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Second seed Amanda Anisimova continues her Brisbane International title quest when she faces Marta Kostyuk for a place in the quarter-finals on Thursday night.

Anisimova shot up the rankings during a stellar 2025 season and early indications suggest she's here to stay after sweeping aside Kim Birrell for the loss of just four games in her Brisbane opener on Wednesday night. The American has got to be considered amongst the leading contenders, not just for this week's Brisbane trophy, but for the Australian Open later this month. Meanwhile, it's a good opportunity for Kostyuk to test herself here - the Ukrainian has declared she harbours ambitions of finishing 2026 inside the top 10 and the former junior standout will get a good indication of where she's at early on.

Kostyuk leads the H2H with Anisimova, but the American is a completely different player these days. Anisimova was very impressive in her opening round, especially on her signature backhand down the line. Kostyuk has lost her last seven matches against top 10 players and has struggled to win sets in those meetings, so backing Anisimova in straights.
  • Anisimova has won 15 of her last 18 matches
  • Anisimova's only defeats in that period were vs Sabalenka & Rybakina
  • Anisimova has won multiple matches in nine of her last 10 tournaments
  • Kostyuk is on a seven-match losing streak vs top 10 players
  • Six of those seven defeats vs top 10 players have been in straight sets

Anisimova vs Kostyuk Head To Head

Amanda Anisimova Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 1-0
  • 2025 Record: 45-18
  • WTA Brisbane Record: 1-0
  • Current Ranking: No. 3
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 3

Anisimova propelled herself from outside the top 40 and into the world's top three during a magical 2025 season, in which she won two WTA 1000 titles in Doha and Beijing, along with reaching two Grand Slam finals at Wimbledon and the US Open.

Ending the season with 15 wins from her last 18 matches and making the semi-finals of the WTA Finals, where she defeated Iga Swiatek, Anisimova has well and truly established herself as one of the leading stars of the WTA Tour.

Making her debut in Brisbane this week, Anisimova was in a ruthless mood in her opening round as she swept aside last year's quarter-finalist Kim Birrell in straight sets.

Anisimova fired 18 winners and dictated play with her swashbuckling backhand to register a convincing 6-1 6-3 victory.

Marta Kostyuk Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 1-0
  • 2025 Record: 28-21
  • WTA Brisbane Record: 2-2
  • Current Ranking: No. 26
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 16 (June 2024)

Kostyuk has been hovering around the 20-40 mark in the rankings for the last few years now and is aiming to make that next step towards the top 10 in 2026.

The Ukrainian has proven she has the tennis to compete with the very best, earning seven top 10 scalps throughout her career, but consistency and producing her top tennis week in and week out remains a challenge.

Kostyuk reached three WTA 1000 quarter-finals in Doha, Madrid and Montreal last year, along with reaching the US Open fourth round, but she couldn't really make an impact at the smaller events to improve her ranking.

The 23-year-old got her 2026 season up and running with a superb comeback win over Yulia Putintseva, recovering from dropping the opening set to finish strongly with a 6-7 6-1 6-0 triumph.
