Autumn Boy relished the step to 1600m when rounding out his spring campaign with victory in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas, which followed a somewhat plain run in the Golden Rose.

There is still plenty of upside with this Chris Waller-trained youngster, who could furnish into a genuine middle-distance or staying prospect, and a mile looks ideal following a strong closing third when resuming over 1400m in the Hobartville Stakes.

In the 2026 Randwick Guineas market with EliteBet, Autumn Boy is a $2.50 favourite.

Sheza Alibi ($3.50) is a three-year-old filly progressing nicely, having rounded out her spring with back-to-back Group victories, including a 5.75-length romp in the Sandown Guineas before a break.

The Moody and Coleman-trained youngster justified an odds-on quote when saluting at Caulfield first-up on February 21, and she now clashes with the boys in the Randwick Guineas.

Ninja ($4) had to settle for second as favourite in the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas, with excuses evident in that Gold Coast performance after covering ground and being inconvenienced by the winner.

He was dominant prior to that effort when taking out the Group 3 Vo Rogue Plate at Eagle Farm and bounced back last start when successful in the Hobartville Stakes.

Godolphin colt Attica ($5.50) is well bred, a son of Lonhro and the first foal out of Savatiano, who was a six-time Group winner, and he arrives off a fourth in the Hobartville Stakes.

The three-year-old showed above-average ability during his first campaign, recording three wins and a second from four appearances, with the latest coming at Group 1 level when successful in the Spring Champion Stakes.

Randwick Guineas Winners

Generally headlining the second Sydney Group 1 meeting of the calendar year, the Randwick Guineas is the first leg of the Australian three-year-old “Triple Crown,” which also includes the Rosehill Guineas (2000m) and the Australian Derby (2400m).

The Randwick Guineas replaced the Canterbury Guineas, which was traditionally contested in early spring rather than its current autumn position.

While past winners include champions such as Todman and Octagonal, the Randwick Guineas has grown into a stronger and deeper contest in more recent times, with Weekend Hussler, Shoot Out, Mosheen, Dissident, It’s A Dundeel and The Autumn Sun all notable winners of the three-year-old feature since 2008.

Communist (2023), Celestial Legend (2024) and Linebacker (2025) have claimed the last three editions of the Randwick Guineas.
