While her spring campaign concluded with a fifth and a third, Joliestar had won her previous two starts, including a Group 1 victory in the Kingsford-Smith Cup, while her first Group 1 of 2025 came in the Newmarket Handicap.
The Chris Waller-trained mare arrives second-up in good form, having opened her 2026 account with a comfortable victory in the Group 2 Expressway Stakes on February 14.
At $2.80 with Ladbrokes, Joliestar is favourite to win the 2026 Canterbury Stakes.
Lady Shenandoah ($3.50) also arrives via the Expressway Stakes, with the four-year-old finishing third in that Group 2 contest, and the extra 100m appears favourable.
While she was unbeaten throughout her three-year-old season, things did not pan out last spring, which began with a luckless second in the Group 3 Concorde Stakes.
With 12 wins and nine placings from 26 starts, Gringotts has built a very consistent record, and he proved his Group 1 weight-for-age credentials last autumn when successful in the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes.
He shares a $7 quote with Napoleonic, a three-year-old who brings race fitness after finishing second in both the Eskimo Prince Stakes and Hobartville Stakes to open his 2026 campaign, and he was spelled following a dominant Group 3 win at Moonee Valley in the spring.
Linebacker ($11) also warrants respect, with last year’s Randwick Guineas winner taking out his most recent summer trial, and his latest race-day victory came over this track-and-trip when bolting in with the Silver Eagle in October.

Canterbury Stakes Winners
The Canterbury Stakes is a Group 1 weight-for-age event contested over 1300 metres at Royal Randwick, run on the same day as the Randwick Guineas.
The race gained Group 1 status in 2013, with champion Pierro claiming the inaugural edition, and with the winner receiving exemption from the ballot for the George Ryder Stakes and the Doncaster Mile later in the autumn, it has become an important lead-up to the Sydney Autumn Carnival.
Artorius (2023), Lady Laguna (2024) and Royal Patronage (2025) have won the last three editions of the Canterbury Stakes.
