The 2026 Futurity Stakes is the first of three Group 1 contests on a stacked Caulfield program this Saturday, February 21.

A deep and tactical 1400m field assembles, with established stars and progressive challengers clashing in a key weight-for-age showdown.

2026 Futurity Stakes Best Bet - Treasurethe Moment

Having won her last eight appearances as a three-year-old, including three Group 1s, Treasurethe Moment looked a potential star heading into last spring.

There was added confidence after she comfortably handled her first weight-for-age attempt via a Memsie Stakes romp over this track and trip against a stronger field than she faces here.

Fangirl and Mr Brightside were among the well-beaten brigade in that race, two of the premier 1400m-1600m horses in the country for some time.

Both were feature winners at their next starts, with Fangirl defeating a field that included Ceolwulf, a dual Group 1 winner later that preparation, while Mr Brightside defeated champion mare Via Sistina, who went on to win two more Group 1's.

There was a slight setback after the Memsie, from which she never fully bounced back, albeit Treasurethe Moment still remained competitive at a high level.

2026 Futurity Stakes Value Bet - Leica Lucy

This quality mare won six of her first seven starts in New Zealand, including the Group 1 New Zealand Oaks, before heading across to contest the Australian Oaks.

Leica Lucy was competitive in that 2400m feature at Randwick before going for a spell.

While unable to salute in three spring outings, all of those performances suggested that a Group 1 victory is within reach this season.

Despite going around at long odds first-up over this distance, it was a huge effort when she recorded the fastest last 400m of the entire Makybe Diva Stakes Day program.

Two Group 1 placings followed, both at a mile, and with her second Sydney trial strong, a bold fresh showing could be on the cards with even luck.
