Once again, there's question marks surrounding Badosa's fitness, with the Spaniard last seen pulling out of Berlin a couple of weeks ago. Badosa also missed two months earlier this season and continues to deal with a chronic back problem. With this in mind, Boulter surely has to fancy her chances of the upset here.
Boulter, admittedly, has a poor record against top 10 players, losing 16 of her 19 such matches. However, that record improves to 2-3 on grass, with Boulter twice having made the third round at Wimbledon. Their only previous meeting was a tough three-setter at Roland Garros last year, so on grass and in these circumstances, Boulter is worth the punt for an upset win.
Head To Head
Badosa leads 1-0, prevailing 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 in the first round of Roland Garros last year.
Paula Badosa Form
It's been another tough season from an injury point of view for Badosa, but she's still clinging onto a place in the top 10 having gone 17-10 on the year.
Badosa started the season with a bang by making her first Grand Slam semi-final at the Australian Open, defeating Coco Gauff before going down to Aryna Sabalenka.
However, the Spaniard has once again been struck down by injuries, withdrawing from Miami and playing just one tournament before the French Open, where she beat Naomi Osaka to make the third round.
Badosa, who has made the Wimbledon R16 on three occasions, was once more forced to retire in the Berlin quarter-finals two weeks ago, meaning her fitness ahead of his clash is a major concern.
Katie Boulter Form
It hasn't been a great season for Boulter, who has seen her ranking drop from a career-high No. 23 in November 2024 to a current mark of No. 43.
Indeed, Boulter failed to win back-to-back matches at tour-level events from the Australian Open and through to Nottingham last week, where she reached the quarter-finals as the defending champion before going down to McCartney Kessler.
Boulter did manage to secure a WTA125k title in Paris before Roland Garros, which has helped her maintain a spot inside the top 50.
The 28-year-old has twice made the third round at Wimbledon, but was eliminated by countrywoman Harriet Dart in the second round last year.

Verdict
Big question marks over Badosa's fitness again here. Boulter hasn't had a great year, but she's got a decent 2-3 record vs top 10 players on grass and this is the perfect opportunity for another upset.
